Wards 2, 9 and 10 elected some real far left nutbags, so those wards must enjoy the pain.

I am sure these new council kooks are also defund the police types.

But the city also voted to take power away from city council, the mayor now has more power, which in this situation is good.

I can only speak to ward 11. Emily Koski came out against replacing the police department and against rent control and won her election handily over the incumbent (7789 votes to 4049 votes).

I am skeptical about that being a good thing.

If/when Frey wants to do crazy stuff (or someone crazier than him in that office, down the road) he will have more power.

Wow that is the best news! For now anyhow…

Only time will tell how extreme left the new city council members are.

I worked in a day labor service in south Minneapolis in the early 80's, I recall many of those seeking day labor work (easy to skirt taxes) were signing in with recent Chicago addresses and Illinois ID.

The Minneapolis public benefits, even back then, only required showing a recent Minneapolis utility bill with your name on it as proof of residency to get on monthly general assistance checks. The day labor was an interim thing for many until the mailed checks began.
Despite the ease of obtaining public benefits in Minneapolis, the trend of Chicagoans moving into Minneapolis appears to be reversing. The idiots and their policies ruining this once fine city is now leading to an outflow of people leaving. And where is the #1 place they are moving to? Of all places, Chicago.

Minneapolis is now the #10 metro city as to out-migration.

But how many so-called "refugees" are flooding in?

The census prior to the last one had MN at 85% white; the last census had it at 80% white.

So there are definitely people coming in to MN for all the free goodies.

Interesting.

Those might be former Chicago residents returning to Chicago since Minneapolis decided to lose all common sense with the woke idiots taking over.

This is so true. In Minneapolis it’s a toss up on the crazies between the mayor and the city council…

Definitely. And just because the CC out-crazies Frey on some stuff, he is hand-in-glove with them on many things. Moreover, down the road when a truly crazy person takes over mayor (and that WILL happen - probably sooner than later) that just might haunt everyone who saw this as something good.
