I'm rarely excited about seeing a movie but I'm looking forward to this one. I saw the Barbara Streisand one multiple times as a teenager and have watched the one with Judy Garland and James Mason. And I love Lady Gaga.

I agree with this. There is a documentary about her on Netflix that is very interesting and you get to see a lot of the real her. She's tiny and suffers from chronic back pain and is plagued with self-doubt. I wanted to adopt her when I watched it.

But she really can sing.

This is a shocker. After seeing the awful performance she gave in American Horror Story: Hotel, I expected Gaga to be another Madonna when it came to ever achieving an honest-to-goodness film career, but most of the reviews point out that her performance is actually solid, even Oscar-worthy solid. I am intrigued.

She really was solid. I have to admit, I was shocked. I think it might be an Oscar nomination worthy performance (and if the Academy is smart, they'll nominate her just because I think it would draw in viewers to the broadcast). But depending on who else is nominated, I don't know that it's quite Oscar winning worthy. Not far off though.

She really evolved past that some time ago.

I think the 'schtick' was all about gaining attention. Once she had that, she pursued her calling as a true artist.

Talented and smart.

It's a shame she got cast in what were arguably two of the worst seasons of AHS(Hotel and Roanoke). In her defense, she had terrible material with which to work.

Just saw it. Oh my....went to the Target next door to buy the Sound Track immediately....others were there, too, ha...Sold Out at $12.

Ok.. Bradley Cooper should get an Oscar nod as director and actor! And singer! Wow!
Miss Gaga is a-m-a-z-i-n-g....beautiful!
One of the best movies I have seen. Very raw and real....it will stay with me for a while.
Good to cast Sam Elliott as his very older brother.

I agree with all this. I was SHOCKED at how well Lady Gaga acted, and her voice was perfect for the role. Bradley Cooper was terrific and I loved how while he was really good, Gaga was better - in the sense that her voice was and is pure, unadulterated talent the likes of which is rarely heard. He was a star with lots of abuse issues, but she was a superstar. The difference was very clear in the movie.

His acting was terrific.

I liked the variety of the music too and will probably buy the soundtrack as well.

I wonder - surely Cooper wasn't singing AND playing the guitar, was he? WOW.

Hi Kathryn Did you know Bradley had to have a voice couch to lower his voice? My gosh ...he sounded like Sam Elliot! I'd love to here B as country soulful singer.
In interviews, as most prob know...the 2 of them adore each other professionally.
Lady Gaga au natural is so pretty and sweet.

Was he actually playing guitar.....here:
"You bet he is! Cooper revealed that he learned to play guitar for the role, taking around a year and a half of intensive music lessons in order to carry it off.
He actually appeared on stage at the 2017 Glastonbury Festival, using the festival set to film some scenes for A Star Is Born."

Oh and at other audience scenes only the first 5 rows could hear them!...they didn't want the songs to get out there before the opening.
Her fans for filming stopped screaming Gaga after awhile and shouted AMY!
