Well forgive me for not catching that when you quoted directly from my post.
And before you go back to the silly topic of parents paying for their children I don't object to it because the "schoalrship" is directed towards one group, my children, it doesn't exlude only one group.
I hope that it is at least based on merit and if so they are some lucky kids.
Well I commend you on your expansive view of human nature, however I believe the vast majority of folks (including me) would be offended by this.
Why? Maybe someone making a donation had his entire family wiped out in land wars on a specific continent and was then forced to leave his ancestral homeland and didn't want anything to do with people from there ever again.
Lets say an Armenian lost his family to genocide and blamed the Turks. Who cares if he leaves a scholarship and refuses to give money to any people of Turkish descent? Sucks to be Turkish in that case, but it would be a personal issue.

Supose someone was mugged by an Asian gang does that give them the right to discriminate against Asians?
I think this makes it worse, the donor is specifically discriminating against people of European decent.
It doesn't mention Euro decent at all. One's whiteness is a construct. All Europeans are not necessarily white.
Like I said in an earlier post- It really takes some balls to think that you can determine someone's whiteness.
Our Government certainly did that in regard to who they considered "not white" for centuries.

We were doing so nicely avoiding the silliness. You must be a recent college grad. No?

I'm not quite shore that I follow. If the scholarship was specifically for African Americans, then would that be OK with you ?
What about if there were separate scholarships offered independently, one for each conceivable group except for white males ?
What I'm getting at is, are you primarily concerned about the unfairness of the social impact of the scholarship, or are you concerned with the provocative symbolism of its explicitly exclusionary nature ?
The next time I am asked about my race on a passport application I will be sure to writer exactly what you posted above. Or better yet when a grant targeted at minorities comes up I will apply for it and when I get it and go collect the money and they see my lack of pigment, I will whip out your statement sure to get me off the hook.

It's not just "my statement". This is an important piece of our country's history.
