I discovered today (via a Facebook status posting) that a former colleague of mine who lives somewhere near the Bronx/Westchester border is homeless due to Sandy. It is very difficult to know someone that you knew personally is in this situation. This particular individual was in a similar situation after Hurricane Katrina as that time he was a student living in the New Orleans area.

What a Racket is what i read on someones fb.......lol it pretains to the mob housewife of Staten island who was offended when someone asked her if her chairty was a registered charity. omg and when asked by some for proof she will not oblige. Looks to me like she went on to a cheap site start up to ask for money for all sorts of things more personal than charitable. One lady posted a site to check if the charity is legit i could not find it . BTW who the heck would trust a chairty run by a mobsters wife......

lol ha ha ha if you look on FB under Drita Davanzo . you will see her post
Drita ... This is insulting but someone asked if my fundraiser is a non profit org.Im not even going to answer to that question because if you know me then you should know the answer.

If you guys aren't following Humans of New York on facebook yet, I suggest you do so. He posts amazing street portraits and has taken a few amazing shots of storm recovery, including a touching photo of some Dutch runners who flew over for the marathon volunteering in their running gear. I love it.

True story.

Here's what I want to know:

Has Bloomberg donated any of his own personal money?
Has Donald Trump donated anything instead of trying to use a donation as an extortion on Obama?
Did anyone actually know if people received those donations that Romney was collecting?

Just saying....

From Gov. Cuomo's Monday afternoon update:

Deploying crews in advance of the storm coming this week

Get get of rid of the debris. The local Government will pick up the debris before the storm hits on Wednesday.
The insurance companies will accept lists of the items so home owners can get rid of the debris (and will not need it for insurance purposes).

80,000 NYers are still without power. He is unhappy with the performance of the utility companies.

For displaced voters, they can go to any polling place and vote by signing an affidavit.
