it all depends on what kind of work u wanna do.the best running garages are q4 q2 q3.these garages are heavier ut the routes are shorter.the cleanest garages are in the east which are q11 q7 and q10.the routes are lighter but are death marches.like i said depends on your preference.

Default Newly Hired San Man

I was just reading through a few of everyones posts and decided to shed some light about this job. I was hired back in October of 07, fairly new but in the short months that I have been working I learned this job was definitely worth the wait. The money situation in the beginning is kind of rough but they have plenty of incentives that can always help you bulk up your paycheck.

$320 / week give or take, depending on whether you take your CDL w/ DSNY, the % you put in your Deferred Comp, the medical plan you choose, ect. Allow me to add my input... Manhattan garages is were the money's at, alot of Jr. guys make truck, Queens & Bk garages, for the most part is lighter than the rest of the city but more walking yet there are alot of Sr. guys & making truck is less likely, more than likely, you'll be doing relays(dumping the trucks) or MLP(broom, shovel & a pail), Staten Island...i'm not even gonna bother coz nobody's going there. Bronx...Heavy. 20+ tons is the norm.

you are better off staying close to home because after your first 30 days in the district you will be bouncing around for quite a while.I got lucky because they hired a ton of guys after me so i hold steady days and make the truck everyday.
