But pups are such adorable status symbols too.

Imagine having a leonberger or a canaan dog. Sigh.

The make amazing playmates for babies and kids.

A dog's a major accessory to a closely knit family. Who can't love these??

My friend had a baby and she said "OMG he's so ugly" when she called me to announce the news. My mom said my older brother was ugly too...LOL, I guess his lips were really swollen when he was born and she told my father she wanted a do-over! lmao

And I will say that as my daughter aged a bit (okay...when she got beyond the squinty eye newborn stage) she looked more like a boy than a girl.

I bet my dog needs way less baths than your kids

Actually, most animals are really clean. My dog sheds a bit, but as long as I don't take her hiking after a rain storm, she really doesn't get dirty.

I teach middle school, so I can't speak for older or younger than that, but man...my 13 year olds are filthy. They draw all over themselves, spill food and drinks in the cafeteria, track mud in my classroom on rainy days, and smear gobbledygook of unknown origins all over my desks. I can't believe this is unique to a 2 year period of life!

^^this.

Dogs are fun and will never grow up to watch reality tv and demand money.
