Gov. Perdue's latest statement on unemployment benefit bill issue "Again today, tens of thousands of families are worried about whether they can pay their rent, put food on the table or keep the lights on while Republicans in the General Assembly hold their unemployment benefits hostage. We’ve been waiting for weeks on Republicans in the House and Senate to show leadership and stop playing games with the lives of thousands of North Carolinians. These are not the kinds of values we have or need in North Carolina. Send me a clean bill and I will sign it the same day.”

Ok folks dont know how much faith I put in this but gotta share to so you can use your BS meter on it:
This was posted on the Reinstate EB FB page little over hour ago:

"May not be anything but I have word from Charlotte. A friend of mine who has many contacts in state offices told me just a little bit ago Raleigh is feeling the pressure. The person spoke off the record and said " we are working on something for monday" . He wouldn't go into great detail but atleast they are hearing us. If I can find out more I will pass it along."

Perdue also says Republicans lawmakers are planning to attach the unemployment benefits fix to another bill. (didn't give specifics) #NCGA
Could it be attached to the health bill? Why do they have to attach it at all. Why don't they just extract it and vote on it. That is the only thing that is making me worried, attaching it to something else. But at least it is something.

If they did do something at all, maybe they could at least give us that week until all is figured out.

RALEIGH, N.C. — The political standoff keeping 42,000 long-term jobless workers from their extended unemployment benefits may be loosening.
Republican House Speaker Thom Tillis of Mecklenburg County said Friday legislation next week would reinstate benefits for those jobless up to 99 weeks. Tillis tells The Associated Press that Republicans are willing to compromise on their initial position linking the benefits to Democratic Gov. Beverly Perdue accepting a double-digit spending cut.
Perdue and other Democrats say the two issues are unrelated and Republicans are holding the unemployed hostage.
Republican Senate leader Phil Berger says the benefits will be in the Senate's budget proposal next week.
Tillis says thousands of state jobs are in the balance if the two sides can't agree now on the form a budget will take in July.
