AskerbaN, I am so old, I remember Soupy Sales before his show was syndicated, and it was just a local show here on WXYZ-TV here in Detroit. Whenever we drove by Broadcast House in Southfield, I would beg my parents to go in and meet Soupy. Does this mean I am finally in with the "in crowd"?

WOW ,,,, that makes you old but a classicy old! I knew he started back in Detroit but I never saw anything before it was syndicated. How lucky you were to have enjoyed those days.
Did you ever see the one skit where there was a nude female behind the door and he had to answer it? That was the one I think that the stagehands put over on him for his birthday surprise. That was funny! I also liked the pie in the face shows.
There was a great sense of camraderie between Soupy and his stage hands; and more than just a few pratical jokes and one-up-manship! And because it was live in the early days, Soupy was often on the wrong end of a last minute script change, or worse. I was young enough that most of them went right over my head, but my older brother had a laugh that let me know I was not in on the complete joke.
Do I need ID to get in? The last time I was carded, I was 21 and it was my wedding. However, my 14 year-old brother, who already had a full beard, was served. Still haven't recovered from that indignity!
Hey, I got carded last month and I am 47!! Woo Hoo!!!
By the way, I liked Dancing Bear and Bunny Rabbit on Captain Kangaroo
