What are you talking about? lol It's a valid reason on my end considering my circumstances, as well as when factoring in my immediate family and relatives--not sure who you are to say it's an excuse not knowing my situation, but, to each his own.

Looking forward to Turkey Day with the entire and extended family.

True. And Obama has promised them all a huge amnesty and quick easy citizenship as their big reward for getting here illegally and taking those jobs.

Cinco de Mayo has become a more important holiday and any of those American ones -- these new workers won't care one iota about Thanksgiving or any day that means anything to Americans.

Yes, we should go back to that. Quality of life is more important than some extra bucks!

Does it not contribute to your quality of life to be able to shop on evenings and weekends?

Do you not shop on evenings and weekends?

Lot's of places are "open for business" 365/24/7 and there is little choice. I don't LIKE retailers, who don't need to be, jumping on this just because I think it's as tacky as playing Christmas music in October. I'm sure there are people who don't mind doing it though, it's not like everyone comes from a Normal Rockwell family that has a big turkey on the table at 5pm. Pleanty of folks have nothing to do on the holidays. Many volunteer since it usually involves some kind of extra pay. I worked on Christmas Day once, no big deal.

Many people like working on these days because not working would mean less of a pay check, they do not get paid holidays. Many also enjoy the extra hours, especially during the holiday season.

So while their are many people who do not like working on a holiday, this does not hold true for everyone, especially where the job is a main source of income, not a secondary income.

Are you trying to say that immigrants don't care about American holidays? Where are your ancestors from?

I know that I am.

I am being paid relatively well - not great, but above minimum wage - I am being paid based on my skills and education - and I am thankful for each dollar.

Liberals just want to demonize people whom don't support unions.

I will never work for a union (because I choose not to) - and may earn less money - but at least I will earn every penny.

I just found out my own son volunteered to work Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in order to get Thanksgiving and New Years Eve off.
