Looks like another nurse was diagnosed with Ebola. Yeah, and she was in my area over the weekend just before she was officially diagnosed. They keep holding press conferences on local channels here. Local health officials keep coming on the TV saying "there's nothing to worry about here, she wasn't contagious while in Ohio.... That, and yet, they're naming places and saying "if you were here, we want to talk to you, call this number".... They say they're going to set up a containment and Emergency response center, ya know, just for the heck of it I guess. They keep saying DON"T PANIC......NO NEED TO PANIC......
All this for something they keep saying's "no big deal, not a threat.... Yeah, right.
I think American's are in big trouble my friends, big trouble.
She was in Akron visiting family. I also saw something about her having family members working at Kent State. Like you I live in Northeast Ohio, and this is way too close for comfort.
I have no idea whether banning flights would solve the problem. My guess is that it's not exactly the correct solution. But I do know this: it IS the knee-jerk response, the one that comes when you aren't able to think more than one layer deep.
NOW just managing 100 people have ebola in a country like the United states with planes, buses, taxis, trains, subways think its containable. Do we think letting in more west Africans is a "GOOD IDEA" ... Still trust your government to handle things?
These are the people we so desperately want to handle our healthcare system.

Let me know when Obama gets his head out of ass, the congress and the homeland security department intended on actually closing a few flights here and close the Mexican border. What is the matter did they think it wouldnt come here just because EBOLA was going to be nice. Did they really think the stock market was going to stay at 17k just to give themselves the illusion the economy is GREAT.
I was just now thinking about this Ebola stuff. I was thinking that it seems most of those people that are in ebola territory so to speak, probably don't do much traveling as a rule therefore the ebola has kind of stayed put up until now, but thanks to Obama and the rest of the pc bunch it has gotten into the usa and already potentially spread from texas to Cleveland by just one person. Think about it, just a few more people get infected and it will spread much further and faster than it ever did in Africa.
That's what I've been thinking. There's no actual protocol. They're developing it as they go along!
We're just beginning to learn that they aren't equipped to handle this. The longer the CDC keeps saying there's no reason to fear, the less believable it becomes.
How might you have felt if CDC had announced , say on 8/1 that protocols are living documents based on mistakes and and experience and we are learning as we go?
Should that first Ebola patient, Dr. Brantly, been left in Liberia to die in Africa, because no US hospital had experience treating Ebola and feared making mistakes and learning from them?

Yes, the government's current plan of encouraging nurses to look at a website is a deeply layered plan.

Of course it's not THE only 1 step that will solve everything. That's common sense. I never meant to imply anything close to that. This is something I feel that should be approached from many angles and this is one of the angles that I think is a no-brainer. If it saves even 1 person from getting sick with ebola, it's a success in my book. And the potential exponential thing.
We now have 2 nurses who were impacted at the top level from someone flying over here from a region and the odds overwhelmingly say they wouldn't have come down with it or potentially passed it on beyond to others if we had a ban in place from those countries.
I don't understand why some are resistant to a step that can easily save some cases of ebola as we now have seen.
We are at the beginning of this event. Let's keep that in mind to guard against fear and panic. I think that having food and water for 60 days is a prudent "go to" plan to contemplate.
I agree. To be concerned enough to take precautions for the worst but expect the best.
Not panic , but planning if this becomes out of control. We cannot believe that this government or any person will take the responsibility for what happens to us. Having food and water can help and less contact with the masses in case it becomes unmanageable. I have always had extra food on hand as it is just a smart thing to do in case of events that could happen that is out of our control.
