you say a week like there is no such thing as God. since God is a supreme being, time to him probably is not the same as us mortals.
6 days to God might be the same as 4 billion years, but how is anyone to know? guess people will find out after they pass on.
if you dont really care about the founding principles of the greatest country on the planet, then move to one that is more agreeable with principles that are closer to your own.
There is no proof of a god thing. It's just another cult.
Show me the proof.
The US is a good country, but there are a lot of good countries out there.
I believe the US lives in fear and that's what's selling.
I love the responses of how people can get so worked up on this nationalism kick. Ironically, IMO, it's more patriotic to be critical of your nation than to simply accept mediocrity or failure.
What's with the whole backlash on atheists as well? Since when was being atheist, or another religion, less American? Why do people need to prove their "Americanness" in the first place?
Nah, this place is better than most. The problem is the concept of a country; when people get together in teams, they start to really suck. The United States has progressed more in free speech arena's than many other countries, but the rate of oppression, degradation and mindless violence is par for the course.
It's a pretty awful place run by pretty awful people, but it's still better than most. The problem is that the intelligent, decent people don't have means to mobilize. The latter character value is something that generally doesn't play well with political mobilization.
Which is why I say people deserve their misery.
Well the decent people of MA mobilized pretty well against the machine last Tuesday.
And yet I still get entangled in political arguments for their own sake. I believe the masses deserve their misery. My favorite (abbreviated)greatest hits list:
A literal majority of Americans believe an invisible Jewish Zombie suspended the laws of physics and created the world in about a week. This is with the internet(free education), public library's(free education), and so on.
1 on 7 Americans are on antidepressants. Yes: we live in the greatest age in human history(if lack of sectarian violence, increased technology etc mean anything to you). Really digest that: 1 in 7 people are so utterly miserable that they lent themselves to a doctor(whom they don't know)to prescribe a drug(which they don't understand) to allow them to wake up in the morning without wanting to end it all.
1 in 5 Americans believe Sun revolves around the Earth.
The majority enjoy calling those willing to kill people they've never met for a cause they don't understand "hero's" for a vague sense of community.
I enjoy watching it all crumble. I suggest you consider the same approach, here and elsewhere.

"This is god's country and if you don't believe in MY religion then you should leave. You are wrong and I am right." -Typical American
Thinkin about it, I pretty much agree with you entirely. I don't know how much I enjoy watching everything crumble since I would like to say I have some hope for humanity, but it seems that my hope only fades away each year. The sad thing is that as everything goes to hell (no pun intended), the Christians are perfectly content to do nothing since they believe that the appocalypse and "second coming" is imminent anyways. This of course is based on the book of "revelations" written by an old and mentally ill schizo-paranoid man.
It's disgusting how America has pretty much turned a 180 from the original principles that the country was founded on. Even more disgusting that people are too brainwashed to care.
And about those anti-depressants. It seems that everyone these days has some sort of "problem" that they need their pills for. I do have to say that you are wrong in saying that 1 in 7 need their zoloft so that they don't wake up each morning wanting in to end. The fact of the matter is that most people are not truly clinically depressed and don't need zoloft and prozac for a TRUE chemical imbalance. People just can't deal with their minor life issues anymore ("OMG scotty dumped me! Even though I am rich and live in completely comfort and luxury while people in the 3rd world would be happy just to have clean water to drink, I am so sad!), which is even worse than people being truly depressed.
Feeling a little down today? Well go to the doctor and within 15 minutes you can have your own little prescription to potentially fatal pills. But remember don't even think about smoking marijuana, it's a terrible drug.
This country is so backwards and F'd up. If I didn't have family here I would gladly leave.
