MJ does not cause brain damage, but it can promote the growth of healthy new cells. It doesn't interrupt mental development, other than while under the effects, maybe a few hours, a person may not remember everything & it makes it hard to do some complex mental tasks. Temporary effects if any. Results will vary with person & type of cannabis. About 800 strains are listed & described on leafly dot com/

Effect on lungs is minor, no cancer of any kind is associated with cannabis, no deaths as a direct cause of use. Cannabis contains 8 things that fight cancer, not found in tobacco plants. Tobacco contains the poison nicotine, with 1 drop (60-80mg) being a fatal dose. Fortunately, most of the nicotine burns before it can be inhaled. You Tube cannabinoid research, cannabis & cancer.

While cannabis raises the pulse, it is not serious, & it lowers blood pressure. Heard of a couple people with pacemakers that use it without any problems. Cannabis lowers stress except for the occasional panic attack from people who smoke more high THC type than they are used to using. It is especially a problem with the edibles as it takes maybe an hour for full effects, so some use too much & get a panic attack, which can give them a false belief they are dying or need a quick check at ER for problems.

Alcohol is a poison (toxin), cannabis is non-toxic. I drink too much, but if cannabis was legal & available affordably, I would drink less as cannabis makes most feel like they've had twice as much to drink. It is also a good way to get off tobacco. Best wishes.

Heavy drinking versus heavy cannabis smoking - which is worse?
Moderate drinking versus moderate cannabis use - which is worse?

It is claimed that light to moderate alcohol consumption has health benefits. There is a list of benefits including lowering blood pressure and lowering stress.

Cannabis does nor "fry" brains, but it can add healthy new brain cells. Lots of people have used it over 40 years & seem to have good health mental & physical.

Pot smokers will n ot remember as much when under the effects that might last a few hours. Some of them had a poor memory to begin with. It's useful for just about every mental health issue: treating depression, anxiety & controlling anger. Also ADD/ADHD & more.

Lots of pot smoking couples have babies & women who smoked during pregnancy have had normal babies.
If there are any who are impotent, it isn't permanent. Best wishes.

They are also impotent. I know two pot smokers who tell their wives "no" to sex! (Yes the wives have to ask for it and the men say no!)

No lung or other cancers caused by cannabis smoke. One of the men still living on 300 govt rolled joints a month for last several decades from former Compassionate Use govt program was tested for lung capacity
& he got 103% of normal. Cannabis is usually grown organically but most tobacco is not. The chemicals put on tobacco plants break down to lead & polonium 210, which has a 1/2 life of 21 1/2 years, which is why former tobacco users can still die from having smoked 25 years after quitting.

The way I see it, at very low levels alcohol is mildly beneficial but can the same be said of cannabis? Or to put it differently, is mild use of cannabis harmful in any way? I'm not sure I can fathom smoking cannabis to be in any way beneficial to the lungs. It's smoke after all. So for me the jury is still out on that one. I accept that alcohol is more destructive when abused.

The US Dispensatory of 1851 recommended cannabis for treating all mental health issues. Yes, doctors knew way back then. There were about 100 medical papers on cannabis by 1840, so not all of the research is new. This info from book Licit & Illicit Drugs, published in early 1970s by Consumers Union, the Consumer Reports publisher.

If you looked into what else doctors in 1851 were recommending, you wouldn't use them to prove your point. lol.

You must account for the comparative quantity between the two...

"Two drinks makes a musician better, two more makes him worse than sober."

A little bit of alcohol helps clears the tornadoes from my mind (I've got ADHD).

I can't contrast it with pot, as I've never smoked; the smell and the childish way people act when high are repulsive to me.

Indeed.

Three years prior, Oliver Wendell Holmes made waves within the medial community when he suggested that bleaching powders should be used during handwashing for antiseptic purposes.

It makes Willie Nilson much less conscious of the where the beat lies in his songs. That was the worst concert EVER.
