Heh, if he moved out, he'd probably be moving to another "football-obsessed" state, considering they're the only ones that have managed their ways through this recession with any modicum of grace.

Well, football, baseball, basketball, and hockey are like a religion. It's pervasive throughout society and most people are hooked on it like fried chicken.
