The county clerk did the same thing. She was sent to jail. The baker tried to do the same thing. They got fined huge amounts of money.
There is a double standard.
The county clerk doesn't perform marriage ceremonies at all, it's not part of her job, Issuing licenses is part of her job, and she can not refuse to issue them, plus she is the ONLY county clerk in Rowan county hers is the only office in the county to get marriage licenses, so who did she refer them to?
You think it's a non-issue when a bigoted judge refuses to marry heterosexuals? I guess I'm not surrpised.
Now you're just being a posterior orifice.
Texas judges: not required to marry anyone. She chooses not to. Perfectly legal.
County clerk: required to issue licenses to all who qualify. Kim didn't. Perfectly illegal.
Some judges are required to perform marriages, some aren't, BTW. If this judge were required to perform marriages then her options would be the same as Kim ... do it or resign.
Yes this judge has her reasons ... and is making a statement. But again, it's legal and it is not an abrogation of duty or oath. It's not even discrimination ... in fact she's AVOIDING discrimination by not marrying just heterosexuals.

Wow Vizio, you are really scraping the bottom of the barrel with this thread.
Face it: you far-right religious types lost control of the country, and that makes you crazy. You feel that political power is your birthright, and you have lost it.

I find it hard to beleive that any human would have the trouble understanding this.

So then the ONLY reason you oppose Kim Davis is because it is a requirement of her job? Seems like there is always an exception when the shoe is on the other foot like the gay bakers refusing to make a cake for Christians.
In one of the states - can't remember if it was NC or TN - that is trying to find a way to accommodate the marriage laws and the religious objections of local officials this was considered a fundamental difference. Under their present system a country clerk had to authorize a marriage license, whereas a judge is not required to marry people, though legally able to do it. It is an optional part of their official job.
The conclusion seemed to be that as judges were not required in order have a marriage that the state would only deal with how to iron out the problem with county clerks whose issuing of a license is a legal necessity.
You can lead a person to the truth. But if they lack the perceptual and cognitive abilities to recognize and understand that truth, there's not much you can do except hope they don't hurt themselves or others.
To quote the Sage of CD: It's impossible to have an honest conversation with a dishonest person.
