True, but a state run facility using state funding, would have to allow every other group to put their sacred texts in the room. That means every religious text.
Where would one sleep?
Honestly? Do you really think that would be an issue? Are there religious organizations lining up to put their texts in every room for rent in America? I'm sorry...but that just seems like more of a smokescreen than anything else.
So what if some Muslims wanted to put a Koran in the room? Let them.
Thank you. That's useful information. But about as relevant as the history of Creationism is relevant to the debate about teaching Genesis in the science class.

Of course that would suit very well those who want to push Christianity, quite apart from pushing it into the gap between church and state. because unless an embarrassing amount of Hindu, Zorastrian, Buddhist, Jain, Mormon, Muslim, Bahai, Sikh and Judaic scripture is put there together with a copy of "The God delusion" the Christopeddlers will have got away with it under the 'we offer equal opportunities to all faiths' trick.
If something is against the law, and there is good reason not to change the law, it doesn't make it right to say 'we'll let everyone do it'.

Again....if you want to put together a box of texts...knock yourself out. Methinks you really don't care enough to do it.
In the short term, no law is being violated by some guy placing a Bible in a room. It's much ado about nothing. But hey...it gives people a reason to whine. And that's what people in this country REALLY want right now--a chance to be a victim.

You're right on that one, Viz. We need look no further than the constant caterwauling of Christian fundavangelists.

I do not think the State should be involved in the placement of religious texts. Perhaps the State should sell the business, making the placement of religious texts a non-issue.
We are not talking about every room for rent. We are speaking about particular State run rooms.
I am unconcerned with the number of texts in privately run rooms for rent.
Your smokescreen was attempting to change the conversation, with a false sense of outrage.

I suspect you would be singing a different tune if Islam was the dominant religion.
