...I'm glad you can still find Fels Naptha (yaller soap) in the stores because that stuff gets greasy stains out like nothing else I've ever found. Borax is good too and you can still get it. I guess I just go for a lot of the old fashioned stuff.
You aren't alone. I moved to Portugal, so - of course - the products are different. But the problem is the same: new products in endless array that are not necessarily better than the now "old fashion" ones.
I use the bar of laundry soap that Portuguese grandmothers use. Just did rubbed it on a stained pillow case a few minutes ago before I threw it in the washer, and case will come out good as new. But the stores are stocked with spot-removing sprays, liquids, pastes...rubbish!!! Give me the bar of laundry soap.
Thanks for the link but all the supima percale I've tried is loosely woven, wrinkles badly, and feels flimsy.
There's no problem finding sheets labelled as percale, but none of them have the good tight, smooth weave you used to be able to buy everywhere.
Exactly. Original percale was a blend of cotton and polyester. It breathed, was "flimsy", couldn't wrinkle no matter what you did, and was cool in the summer.

That's probably NJ - it's illegal to pump your own gas. AND it's cheaper to not have it pumped. It has to do with the insurance I believe.

I still use my old standby -- Lestoil. Of course, try to find it in a supermarket.
I remember using the original Herbal Essence (no "S") back in the early 1970s. It was green and smelled soooo good. Check out this blog post about Herbal Essence...Clairol discontinued the original shampoo, but Vermont Country Store sells something that is somewhat similar:
Thanks - I've tried it (close but no cigar ... not enough pine smell and too much soap smell) - but thanks to that link I found a few names of shampoos to try from Walmart of all places
