That makes her a hero in the minds of many people in Massachusetts, apparently including you. It's tough to dislike Santa Claus, except if you're the guy who is coerced by an incompetent government to fund him.

Benjamin Franklin summed up the dilemma when he said:

“Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote."
Looks like we've got more than a few Massachusetts people here. I will never understand why people do not want government. Humans are not perfect, they need to be governed or else there is chaos and the strongest, most corrupt, and most ruthless will rule over the weaker, the more honest, and the kind spirited. Any time humans form groups they need to be governed. Monopolies need to be regulated, laws have to be enforced, regulations have to be in place. It's called civilization.

Elizabeth Warren cares enough to try to level the playing field, to make things fair for all. It's not just about you, not just about me. It's about all of us. The people who have not had all the advantages need to be helped, the sick need health care (everyone needs health care--how can anyone still be against getting health care for all our citizens?)

You. You. You. Penalizing You. The country is about US. All of us. We help each other--I always thought that was the American way. She rewards BAD BEHAVIOR??? By wanting every US citizen to be able to go to the doctor? Has nothing to do with bad behavior. By helping people who are down on their luck? Has nothing to do with bad behavior. Bad things happen to good people and everyone knows that. Thank goodness not everyone in this country is out for themselves only.

I have to laugh at those who would obliterate the lower classes. Who picks your lettuce and processes your food, who services you in restaurants and hotels, who cuts your hair and tends your old body in a nursing home? Where do libertarians get their service providers? Lowest wages and no healthcare for them?

We have a very different view as to how to advance people. You think government is the answer. I think capitalism is the answer. Those are irreconcilable positions. It's pointless to argue about it.

Merry Christmas, I hope Santa is good to you.

Riverbird asked for an example of how Warren affected me personally. I was responding to that. That's why my response was so specific to me. Just to be clear, Warren is a disaster to many more people than just me.

How ironic that Woodrow Wilson, of all people, would have made that statement.

The fastest way to get Americans back to work is to make it cheaper for businesses to employ Americans than to outsource or offshore. That means cutting corporate taxes (to free up more room in the budget for expansion, ie job creation), eliminating regulations that inflate the cost of labor, and reducing entitlements (like 99 weeks of unemployment) that serve as a disincentive for people to work.

Spoken like a true Texan. Yeah cutting corporate taxes might do it. I would be first inclined to increase tariffs on goods imported by companies that are purported to be American that have shipped jobs overseas.

And you would thus DECREASE the amount of money available in the budget for things like payroll and expansion, which will lead to fewer jobs created instead of more.

Go ahead and cut your nose off, that'll teach your face a thing or two.

Well-written response, shows a real understanding of the "liberal" viewpoint.
"Liberalism is a political philosophy or worldview founded on ideas of liberty and equality."

Without any labels, as I age I am more and more concerned with equality as a necessary component to freedom. Others may not think so.

No need to argue, and no need to be snide, no need to lose your cool. I doubt many of us are against "capitalism"—free enterprise. Within that, we all have our views about how to achieve a balanced, fair, and productive capitalist society. Willingness to hear other views...start there (i.e., democracy).
