Well-written response, shows a real understanding of the "liberal" viewpoint.
"Liberalism is a political philosophy or worldview founded on ideas of liberty and equality."
Without any labels, as I age I am more and more concerned with equality as a necessary component to freedom. Others may not think so.
Two quick reactions:
1) It's fine and dandy that you and others embrace a liberal viewpoint. You have every right to do so and I support that right. The problem is that people who don't share that viewpoint are forced to pay for it. Therefore, liberalism becomes a political philosophy founded on taking other people's property against their will. There's nothing fair in that proposition.
2) You wrote: "Without any labels, as I age I am more and more concerned with equality as a necessary component to freedom." You have that backwards. Freedom is a necessary component to equality. Without freedom you have nothing. Just ask people living in countries that are not free.
But what she WILL do is take down the names of those who "voted against benefits for seniors and veterans" so that when she runs against them in a future presidential bid, she can wave their "poor voting record" around.
I can see this thread getting closed or moved rather soon. Who dared put political stuff into the Retirement forum, LOL.
