I'm betting that those who didn't like England because it was too crowded had only visited the London area. Assuming they actually meant England and not Great Britain. It's like saying that having visited NYC one would not return to the US because it was too crowded.
I've travelled a lot and the only country I would not return to is South Africa. Went there for a wedding and we did enjoy our visit to the country, but aside from Clarens, I did not feel safe there. Signs on motorways telling me someplace is a car hijacking area makes me nervous, especially when they don't just steal your car, they kill you.
As for those naming Paris, I wasn't extremely impressed with Paris and probably won't return, but I do love other areas of France and will revisit as much as I can.
Nassau, Bahamas. Almost any other island in the Carribbean is better in every way.
Except for Jamaica, which is even WORSE with tons of screaming, rude, stupid, conniving people that are always trying to hustle you.
P.S. I forgot China..talk about the juice not being worth the squeeze!
I spent a month in six cities there a couple of years ago and will never go back..ever, unless by accident.
I saw the sun ONCE, the pollution was so bad. Never saw a cloud because the sky was a dull taupe color.

I've witnessed crime in several countries but Mexico is the only place where I was actually held up by cops.
The men with machine guns appeared to be military. They stated they were government forces and were patrolling the area to keep it safe from bandits. I believe there was some sort of "fee" involved for safe passage.
The level of bitterness, scorn and determination exhibited by that person is quite impressive. In cases like these there is usually something ''romantic'' involved, like being spurned by a lover, etc.
It's possible. I'll let him respond for himself, though, if he so chooses. He might've just had a really horrible day at his Expo of Man/latter-day World Fair whatever it was. I do know what it's like to get a really bad impression from a place...I just can't imagine Montreal being that place as opposed to say Brunswick, Georgia (look that locale up if you dare, lol).

"You are in Quebec, you should be speaking French," was our experience for the entire four days. I remember discussing this on the flight home with my traveling companions. Several had traveled a fair amount throughout their lives and none had experienced anything quite like the dismissive rudeness we encountered everywhere we went.
Perhaps others have had a more pleasant experience than ours and will post about what a wonderful time they had in Montreal, how friendly and accommodating the locals were.
It's funny to me that a lot of people mention Montreal as a rude, unfriendly place to visit in Canada. I've been to many major cities around Canada (Vancouver, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax, Montreal, Quebec City) and I've always enjoyed the people and the culture there. Sure, you get some French rudeness, but it wasn't that bad as far as I was concerned. Hell, I even wore my Boston Bruins hat around town and one guy smiled at me and yelled, "Go Habs Go"...it was actually quite friendly.
The place in Canada that left the worst taste in my mouth was Vancouver. Sure, the city was stunning, but I felt like the people were rude to me and the nightlife was overhyped.
I take half an ativan (relaxant). Just tell your doc you need something to relax you because you are nervous flying. It puts me nicely to sleep for at least a little while, and one time I woke up as we were landing.
I spent two weeks in Panama and drove all over the country. Very nice place, but I feel like I experienced everything I wanted to there.
I'm not American but i'm going to assume thats the same kind of place as Spain is to British people i.e full of drunk Americans.
Personally I hate places like that. When I goto Spain and see British people it really irks me. I want to goto a country to experience their culture not Little Britain. What is the point in going on holidays just to take your culture with you.
About ten years ago, I was part of a group invited to present at a conference at McGill University. People were rude to us everywhere we went. I've been to France several times and never been treated quite like this.
At lunch, people at the conference would speak French, leaving us out of the conversation. They could all speak English. In fact, sometimes would ask us in English how it felt to not be able to understand what was being said.
It was the darndest thing I've ever experienced.
If tourism is a major part of their economy, I'm not surprised that Montreal's economy lags behind that of other Canadian cities. It was one of the most unwelcoming places I've ever been.
Thankfully that has never happened to me but when it does the people will be left standing.
I would never do that to a foreigner I would try and include them in the conversation and make them feel at home.
It would appear that Spanish speakers love doing this.
