Los Angeles gangs also have been employing Chicago gang members to sell crack cocaine for them in several other cities, including Minneapolis, Denver and Des Moines, officials in those cities have said.

This is not the first time that California gangs have tried to move into the Chicago drug trade, Dart said.

Crips tried to sell cocaine in Chicago`s Englewood area about three years ago, but, ``Their drug costs were higher and they left,`` Dart said.

Last I saw it was 59, but the Tribune may not have updated their figures yet.

Chicago Tribune 1991"

"Street people" in certain West side neighborhoods have confided that "there are bloods*from out of town" who have attempted to intimidate and control given areas where drugs are sold. Several recent outbursts of violence and "drive-by" shooting have reportedly been perpetrated by unknown "gang types", who are not associated with any known Chicago gang. One friendly neighborhood resident told this reporter, "them brothers is from LA-LA land...you know... out West". "They's bad boys...that group...they kill you soon as look at you", he concluded.

Maybe after a while the Chicago gangs went to war with the Crips or maybe the Crips just left but like i said the Drug connection & Gang culture was brought to other cities mainly by the Cocaine market.

Minneapolis had a high murder rate in 2015. So far, I have only heard of 2 people being charged with attempted murder in 2016. We have a lot of snow, so the criminals are probably staying indoors. Kind of hard to run away from the scene of a crime in snow boots. hahahaha.

man what is going on in Chicago?

tearing down the projects was the worst thing they could have done. Now the gang influence is on everybody's turf.

Chicago is a great city...I hope they can turn it around because there are some good people in the cross fire.

housing displacement is at the route cause of this epidemic (tell me if I'm wrong).

I hope so. It stalled out for the past two years, but if it can fall below 300 it would be amazing
