Its only been 34 days of the year so far in 2016. Chicago is destroying its reputation worldwide, honestly.

Chicago at this point is very lucky it reached a point where it can be called a world class city because I think if it wasn't as large and prestigious as it currently is, it would have went the way of most midwestern metros by now.

Chicago is a great city...I hope they can turn it around because there are some good people in the cross fire.

housing displacement is at the route cause of this epidemic (tell me if I'm wrong).
Chicago tore down the projects years ago, so no, it's not the current fault. The issue is that CPD has completely backed off since the Laquan McDonald video and the city's agreement with the ACLU that curbed Chicago's use of stop and frisk.

I'm not saying that cops acting like they can do what they please with impunity is acceptable, but there has to be some sort of middle ground, because CPD simply backing off and letting things go to **** isn't helping either.

Chicago didn't go the way of cities like Detroit because it moved quickly to diversify its economy, something Detroit didn't try to do until it was far too late. It has nothing to do with homicide rates, which were even higher than this when Chicago reached said world class status. Not saying this year is acceptable at all, but be serious here. Chicago didn't stumble into its current world class status, it was calculated.

Yeah Chicago is lucky to have become that big by the time that US began to be suburbanized, otherwise it would have been just another Cleveland or St Louis or Detroit
