Memphis at a mind boggling 30 murders with a population of 653k. Atlanta which is around 456,000 population only has 7 as of 2/11/2016 and I consider that too high. What is seriously going on in that city? At the rate it's going, it'll be at 40-50/100k murder rate by the end of the year.

Memphis police mentioned gang related incidents and possibly other crooks too. That aside which areas is experiencing the most drama?
My issue with the city comparison is some cities have unincorporated areas within its boundaries. Others have succeeded in the gentrification process and moved criminals outside of the city limits. There are a number of things that could impact statistics.
Most crime in most cities are domestic or gang related. If you are a normal functional man or woman you have very little to worry about when it comes to homicides.

Atlanta is actually at 11 now, as of 2/6. That is too high, and an increase from 8 in 2015. 2016 was off to a violent start in January, but the trend is unpredictable in Atlanta. Last year started off slow and then suddenly had a big surge during the first half of the year, but the later half slowed down and the year end total was a tie with 2014's total. August was very quiet with only 1 murder the entire month. I wish every month could be like that in Atlanta, but of course 0 would be better.

Hmm strange. I looked at the crime stats under "Find My Zone" as of the 11th. Maybe they just haven't gotten around to updating that though.

Memphis case seems to be afflicted with domestic issues. A local police stated that majority ( 60-70%) of murders was done by acquaintances that know each other.

Philly at 25
NYC at 30
L.A at 28
Camden, NJ is at 2
Syracuse, NY is at 4
Buffalo, NY is at 3
Rochester, NY is at 7
D.C 10
Newark, NJ 15
NYC is on pace for like 250. It will probably speed up with the warm weather but if we can finish below 300 it would still be wonderful! Maybe Philly can finish below 200 too?
