Ok, so the PL got approval. Realistically how much will this impact UM and College Park?

How much of an uptick in investment and development over the next five years compared to no PL? Would be nice to see significant development around the following three PL stops: Metro, innovation/East Campus and University Blvd near UMUC. Thoughts?

Of the bat it resovles the mistake of putting the metro station a mile from the center of campus. Now you have three stops ON campus connecting students not only to the Green Line, but also the Red Line Metros.

With O'Mally's support, you already see developments that have moved forward. This includes Riverdale Park station and the Hotel. The innovation district will now move forward with the Purple Line in mind.

Look for West Campus to get some development love. There are plans to develop on top of the commuter lots.

Personally, I think the FBI will be the major catalyst for the rest of Rt. 1 if the Greenbelt site is chosen.

Its like they buried the Metro stop in College Park. I dont think I've ever seen it.

Not sure if discussed but the transportation funding includes rebuilding route 1 from college ave to 193. There is a link to a PDF - listed as PGCs #2 priority behind Greenbelt interchange with $30mm in funding and 2018 construction start date

Default Route 1 property getting set to demolish

A fence was installed around the vacant Koon's Ford property yesterday. Word is the building should be gone by the end of July. On the adjacent property to the east, Wood Partners has proposed some changes to the architecture for the apartment building to be built to County Planning staff. Any changes should be minor enough that they can be approved administratively.

Thanks Catcprtc! It's a bout time. I was hoping that the project didn't stall due to financing or whatever. As far as the other building, it looked more like an office building than a residential one. The redesign may attempt to soften the appearance a bit. Make it more residential.

Is Marriott still the hotel operator?

I don't know who the hotel operator will be, it may be independant, just as the University hotel that Hillman is building to the south will be. The architecture change proposed for the apartment building involves the appearance of the lower part of the building facing Berwyn House Road and not the glass office look of the portion facing toward Route 1.

Goodbye to the Little Tavern, make way for green space. I gotta give the University credit - they are going block by block and seem to have a vision for every space/corner in CP. Downtown definitely needs some beautification - hopefully this will be a small part of that goal. I believe there is s planned open space in conjunction with the planned new city hall.
