I think you're asking for trouble if you look to a tv reality for accurate representation of pretty much anything. It is fact though that Atlanta is a majority black city.

Not if you include the metro. (And even the city proper's days as black-majority may be numbered.)

Franklin is mayor of the city, not the metro.
I agree on the rapidly changing demographics of the city.

"WATCH "MAN V. FOOD," WEDNESDAYS AT 10 PM
Wednesday on "Man v. Food," Adam Richman travels to Atlanta, where he and another contestant take on the 11-pound Carnivore Pizza Challenge. Adam also stops by The Vortex Bar & Grill, and Gladys Knight and Ron Winans Chicken & Waffles. Watch Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET."

That's my favorite type of "reality" show - the travel shows. At least it's REAL reality, where you can get a feel of what places are like, what people eat, how they interact, etc. Hmmmmm... getting an idea.... take the housewives of Atlanta, and put them on a boat with Anthony Bourdain in South America.... I'm on to something...
Preach on!! Same here. That and watching Speedvision (PINKS anyone? ) ...Doesn't it bother anyone that everything tastes good to Zimmerman on Bizarre Foods? I watched one episode of Housewives of Atlanta, and promised myself to never watch it again (For revenge, I'd have all the Housewives of every single series travel with Andrew Zimmerman and make them eat what he eats, ) . They all got on my nerves. It cant be a man thing, but show me something that makes sense.

Let me ask you all a question? Why do you worry about something that is not even worth talking about? Here is an off topic question. Why do you people embrace materialism and Corporate America in Atlanta or any US city? Those are the two things that damage people in society.

4 out of the 5 women on the show were black, which is 80%. I think its great that black woman are getting a larger role in televison but considering the city of Atlanta is 55% black and the northern suburbs where the woman lived are much less black than that do you think that the producers were trying to mislead viewers by making atlanta seem much blacker?

Also I didn't care for the gold digging , "bling bling" aspect of the show. Atlanta is a largely working class city but the show made it seem like we all ride esclades with spinners and buy diamonds like they are candy. The women kept on saying in Atlanta money and class is everything. That might be true to a certian extent in the richer 'burbs but that does not hold true for a large part of the metro area.

Any responses?
Now you know how it feels to be Californian and have people constantly think that what they see on TV is what California and Californians are like. It's not pleasant.

(TT slinks back to the CA forums now ...)

Atlanta has the largest, wealthiest AA population in America. Most people who live the good life, live in a suburb - especially since most 10,000 sq ft houses are built in the burba on several acres. I like the show because it was informational right down to the "what not to do" mistakes.

My only criticism is NeNe needs to wear a correctly fitted foundation. Good taste is always in vogue -even at Burger King. It makes me wonder how much her poor choice of clothing reflects on husband's bottom line? The last thing I read was they lost the house.

I felt the show had it right for the most part. There are a lot of trashy women devoid of substance here in the ATL. I see women go after guys with cars like the '87 Monte Carlo SS with the oversize dubs all the time. Flash and bling is major component of the hip hop culture.
