Take for instance the bitter divorce of two parents in which the court has decided that only one of those parents
will have custody of the children .
The other deeply embittered parent decides that their life is ruined and they will kill themselves , but rather than just carry that out they determine that the other parent will never enjoy the lives of the growing children because they are going to kill the children and then kill themselves .
I know of a case where this actually happened .
They purposely do not kill the other spouse , just the children , because
they want the other spouse to live a life of loss and sorrow.
Satan knows his fate is sealed , but the one thing he does have at the moment is time .
Time to rob the father of as many of his children as he possibly can .
This is why jesus called him a " murderer from the beginning "
but as is so often the case when looking into the scriptures your interesting question begs another related question .

No, the angels were created to be different from mankind, angels do not need to have faith...they KNOW, in the same way, that Satan KNOWS he does not stand a chance of overthrowing Gods position an taking it for himself (that would be human type mistake, angels are not capable of making those kinds of mistakes).

Yep you are right, but you forgot to mention one key point...God (the father), is THE ONE who 'enabled' Satan to do this in the first place!!
God COULD have banished satan to some outer realm any time he liked, where satan would have NO contact or influence on mankind...(humans would still have free will if he did this too)...
But where does God cast satan instead? DOWN AMONG US!!! Imo, this proves satan has a specific purpose and is doing exactly what he was created for, he is not 'rebelling' in the slightest way.
Satan, the devil, doesn't know he is the devil. Nor do his followers know they follow him.

Does Satan know his ultimate fate? The Bible nowhere says that Satan can foretell the future or how great his knowledge is, he didn't knew that Christ's death and ressurection was his defeat.
