I'd start to disengage from a debate with anyone who says Houston is a much better city than Chicago

Well, what city someone enjoys and doesn't enjoy is completely subjective so that if someone were to say "You know, I don't like San Francisco - it's not my cup of tea." Who cares? Everyone likes different things. What bothers me is the complete disregard for fact, data, and data analysis. Most people don't know how to use these though, but it's unfortunate.

In that sense, Houston is just about the best city in the country. QOL is a more subjective measure than job market, which can be concisely measured too.

I like both Houston and Chicago. They both have different things to offer.

After living in Chicago for 6 years I can tell you that the average Chicago resident doesn't think about Houston. Nor did Chicago seemed worried about Houston taking over the 3 position. It really is not that big of a deal.

To write statements about crime in Chicago and stating that it's a war zone is silly. It's a great town with many challenges just like Houston.

To get all bottled up and get into these silly debates on my city is better than yours is silly. That's what this sounds like.
