For me, as far as summers go, the cooler the better

Was just in Atlanta and El Paso..love the cities, hate the wet and dry heat.

You're aware that the sun exists outside of Southern California, right?

Long Beach weather for the win.

How has Sac not been boiling hot. The coastal fog and delta breeze is giving them good weather, for now....

It's normal for Sacramento to NOT be boiling hot. It's been gorgeous in Sacramento for the last 2 weeks. And most of June was more comfortable than not, that is NORMAL FOR SACRAMENTO.

8:30 Dusk/Evening, still light out, July 17; other western cities are given for perspective

San Francisco 52F(Wind chill) only will a SF Summer give you "wind chill" readings, opps Oakland too.

Oakland 54F(Wind chill) oh, yes, Oakland too

San Jose 62F
Portland 63F

Long Beach 68F

Sacramento 70F - The Central Valley is not all the same, it's always Cooler by an average of 15 -20 degrees in Sactown than other parts of Central Valley north and south of Sac because of it's Bay/Delta Microclimate in the summer.

Seattle 75F - Really, Sacramento is 5 degrees cooler than Seattle in the middle of summer, yes it happens a lot more than any Coastal California will tell you.

Salt Lake City 81F

Fresno 86F - Southern Central Valley

Vegas 98F
Phoenix 98F

Sacramento had 6 days at 100 or higher and 13 days 95 or higher in June according to weather.com, that is "boiling hot" to a lot of people. The average high for June was 91 and 20 days were 90 or above. So far 11 days have had highs above 90 in July. But it wasn't has hot as as Fresno or Phoenix so therefor the weather is perfectly fine .

Your are right Sacramento does NOT get anywhere close to the high sustained heat of Phoenix, Vegas, Fresno and more than 2/3 the rest of the nation's metros that have heat index temps from 5-15 degrees hotter than the non-heat index temp posted.

Your numbers are off: Sacramento had only 3 days of heat index high temps in the 90's from July 1-15. And, only 1 day of 100F heat index temp. Besides, 90F in Sacramento with its low humidity is really quite comfortable. And it's only 90F for like 1 hour. Whereas, 90F in huge swaths of the nation equates to a heat index of 95F or 100F because of their much higher humidity.

And of course you did not mention that Sacramento averages as cool as Seattle and Portland nights and mornings in the summer. All summer long Sacramento averages 58F-62F for low temps. Daylight morning hours are in the 50's, 60's, and very low 70's; something you won't find in Vegas, Phoenix, and often not in Fresno.

You are forgetting heat index which drops the temp by 5-10 degrees in Sacramento because of it's low humidity. For example, a quick glance at the forecasted high temp for the day will NOT reveal this for example:

90F in Sacramento has a feels like temp of 85F

90F in San Antonio has a feels like temp of 100F

My numbers aren't off at all, they are the official high temps in JUNE. I didn't forget to mention anything as I was talking about the high temperatures, it's still blazing hot when people get off work. Maybe you don't work or something but most people aren't out gardening at 7am on a Tuesday or whatever. Instead they're running back to their air conditioned house when they get off work.

Also don't forget the cloudless skies and how much hotter it feels in the sun in Sacramento. No cloud cover or haze to temper the heat. There is NEVER anhy sort of relief during the day unlike in other parts of the country. And of course the crappy air quality.

I think for the simple fact that you always use Vegas or Phoenix to compare Sac too shows just how hot it is there. Congrats, Sac isn't as hot as the desert and one of the hottest cities on earth. Real accomplishment there....

All Bogus!

Sacramento has trees, patios, and awnings like most places that can protect us from the Sun. Anyone with common sense knows not to stand in the Sun. If it's only 60F degrees it will feel a lot hotter if you stand in full sunshine. So don't stand in it. Wear a hat, use an umbrella, stand in the shade, duh.

When the heat index is 100F with hot heavy humid unending sweat, all the shade or cloud over in the world will NOT give you relief as many other parts of the country; Sacramento does not have that problem.

No, I don't always use Vegas and Phoenix I use cities all over the country to compare with Sacramento.

Feels like Temps: 6:45 in the evening, July 18

Oakland 64F
San Jose 70F

Portland 73F
Long Beach 76F
Sacramento 78F

Fresno 92F
Miami 94F
St. Louis 96F
Austin 100F
