I try to understand why you are focused on a non-issue in Ukraine, but then I check Russian news and they are hyping up a "gas crisis" in Ukraine. Complete with journalists interviewing a "random" Ukrainian on the street. This is where the term Fake news came from, when Russians manufactured a negative news event in Ukraine that isn't happening. Sorry guys, but nobody west of Donetsk is buying the attempts to discredit Ukraine. Not that I expect you to stop trying...
So far no one I know there is experiencing any heating issue related to the availability of gas from imports.

Most of what I'm getting is from UKRAINIAN sources!!!!! Channel 112, blogs and the like. YouTube. There was a video from Vesti but it's just a rehash made for entertainment.
I watched the Vesti piece about the gas shortage, and if you pay attention and don't actually just look at the head lines, they only mention a few small towns/villages that are having shortages, they never mention any major cities, so it does seem like they are hyping it up.

The shortages are not about imports to Ukraine, but the internal distribution system.
Speaking of which, whom would you ( or rather your friends/family) choose from the list of available presidential candidates?
That depends on who counts as a presidential candidate. As of this time not all expected to run have registered. There are a few I would go for, a few more I would tolerate and many more who would be bad. Unfortunately as of now, most of them to me are on my bad list. I would go with whoever Vakarchuk supports.
I haven't taken a poll of "my people" over there but from what I know so far: Boiko, Vikul, Hyrtsenko, and Poroshenko if he runs. Not in that order.
Nadia Savchenko doesn't have the 90,000 plus dollars needed to get past the bouncers at the club entrance. Nor does 99.9999999 percent of the people of Ukraine.
You can add that Ukrainian citizens living in Russia (trying to feed their families back home and or bettering themselves) will not be able to vote because the Ukies refuse to set up any means for them to vote in Russia. They'll have to go outside of Russia if they want to vote.
Prolly because Russia would ensure their votes are handled correctly and legally.
