Because it's Russia. Not America. On a lot of things the rule "that's how we roll" definitely applies. Especially on the roads, moving or not. I always thought Italians were the worst drivers in the world. Then I went to Russia. Russians are Italians on ice. Within hours of my very first visit there I saw a Lada wrapped around a telephone pole. Don't let anybody tell you their driving habits have improved either. i read the death rate plunged from 30000 a year to 17000 a long time ago. It wasn't because Russians became better drivers, it's because of newer cars with better safety systems.
If you drive in Russia you take your life into your own hands.
I just watched this video and to me this is crazy.
Russian are a very strong willed, devil may care people, they wear their emotions on their sleeves and this I think leads to a reckless attitude in a lot of them. Most tolerate the laws at best, those that don't cause problems.

Yep, public transportation, as uncle Joe was prescribing precisely for those reasons.
He wasn't all that dumb and knew Russians pretty well I think.
The very features that help them to prevail in extreme situations are killing them in daily life.

WTF, seems like Russia does everything differently. From driving, to cleaning, to schools etc. Do they do anything that is same as western countries? Btw are cars cheap in Russia, considering how bad drivers are there, either auto insurance must be very cheap or cars.
