I also feel that the standard of beauty has shifted and exxoticals are in and I don't think they are going anywhere. Especially with a lot of people now going out of their way & breeding with certain people to make sure their kids look exxotical.

I cant think of an NBA player or rapper whose kids are not exxotical. Even Heidi Klum stayed with Seal's jobless mutalated face long enough to have some nice exxotical kids.
When people use "40 million dollar slaves" as their barometers of "success" then I know not to take anything that they say seriously.

No, the uneducated, the undereducated, the shortsighted, the unworldly and generally those with a "ghetto" mentality use NBA players and rappers as their measures of success and/or desirability. I can not believe that some women are dumb enough to judge themselves based upon the skin color and body shape of the women in rap videos or on the arm of a 'court jester'. How many of these men have long, successful marriages (to one woman) and do not have illegitimate babies littered throughout the United States with multiple women?

Based on far too many of these posts, some parents have obviously dropped the ball in raising young women to have high standards, high self esteem and to value education (and knowledge). It is so disappointing that these young women are looking to drug dealers, poorly educated athletes and colorstruck rappers as their objects of desire and aspiration. Such a shame. Wake up, ladies.

I agree with you & I wish black folk like OP would idolize the likes of Michele Obama & Oprah for their education & being positive role models but unfortunately light skinned Beyawnce who dropped out of high school & married a drug dealer of sorts who stabbed a relative is what they look up to. Or Kanyi West who married a former ""porn star"" Sad but this is the world we live in.

It's not every young lady, calipoppy. It's not even every young black lady. Angrymillionaire just watches too much reality television, as is clear from all her posts. She's come to think that that the black folks on reality television are a fair representation of the general black American population.

Anyway, OP, I hope you've finally gotten a few posts that may make you reconsider. There's some great advice strewn around this thread from people in situations similar to yours.

This is just more lookist crap. Most people are not that good looking. Most women are not that good looking, or men either. In my entire life I have only seen a few dozen really beautiful women of any color. What you see in magazines is all makeup and photoshop. Anyone who judges themselves on their looks has a personality problem.

The way to judge people is by what they do.

Personally I don't think Heidis kids look any better or worse than darker or lighter children, but you do hear it reiterated in the media, fasion mags and even on here that "mixed" kids are more attractive: Bronze golden hued skin, curly but not kinky hair with lighter highlites, light eyes, full but not large lips, narrower nose, high cheek bones. Whether its Kim K trying to darken up with a spray on tan or Beyonce putting on some straight hair the famous do try to reach some ideal and it's not real white and it's not real dark.

From my own perspective I would take very dark Alek Wek or very light Nicole Kidman over a Beyonce or a Kim K.

A couple of things I've noted:

White men may be racist, but don't seem to be colorist. That is, a white man who gets over the race thing in the first place for the choice of a mate seems not to mind if the woman is dark-skinned and short-haired. Don't look at celebrity couples for that...when you look at someone like Mariah Carey or Halle Berry, there are more factors involved. Look at couples on the street; when you see a white man with a black woman, she's very likely to be dark-skinned.

Something else: Photographers keep this a secret, but very dark skin is a lot more interesting and beautiful to light and photograph than light skin. Dark skin is gorgeous to the camera.

I live in an area with LOTS of dark women, and I would give my right arm to get with some of them.

sincerely a white guy
I think this poster is right to a certain extent.

By the way, there is whole continent of dark skin men and women who seem to get married.
I suggest snatching up one them, besides why do want loser black american men?
Why not get a man who know how to be a man?
