I saw a Yukon plate a couple of years ago. Yukon is farther away than Alaska.
When I lived in New Brunswick, I drove my own car to El Salvador, central America, so I guess maybe my own car was the furthest away license plate I've ever seen. I also drove my Missouri-plated car to Pamana.
In British Columbia, one frequently sees Newfoundland cars, and vice versa.
I've seen Alaska license plates in Maryland. Quite a few different times actually.
This is the first thing that came to mind.
I use to own a gorgeous, metallic blue, 66 Chevy Caprice. The orange plates and the blue lettering complimented well w/ the metallic blue. I can presume that most times when one sees Alaska plates; the owner is a military vet. I drove from Fairbanks, Ak to Illinois back in 93 upon discharge from the Army. Took me 5.5 days. One of the greatest things I've ever done. I didn't drive my Chevy, however.
My friends and I took a road trip from South Florida all the way to Bar Harbor, Maine this summer. We saw a few CA plates, so I guess thats about as far of a cross-country stretch you can get.
You see Alaska at least once every month in the Twin Cities. Rare ones i have seen are Nova Scotia and Chihuahua. I've seen German plates in Minneapolis and US forces in Germany in a resort up north.
When I lived in San Diego out of state plates were very common with all the transplants and military. Saw plenty of Alaska, Hawaii, and some Maine plates. Also saw Mexican plates from states like Jalisco, Oaxaca, and Veracruz.
In NJ I've seen Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Wyoming, Alberta, British Colombia, Manitoba. I've seen European plates (Great Britain), and they weren't those fake ones which are only in the front: this car had it in the back.
