About a year ago, I spotted a polar bear plate near the Southpark mall. My first thought was it was a logo for a car company, or something like that. But when it got close to me, I saw that it was a NorthWest Territories license plate. That was probably the rarest plate for a North American state/province that I'll ever see.
Yes! The infamous polar bear license plate. The coolest of them all. Spotting that one in the states or even in Canada is much more exciting than Hawaii or Alaska. If I ever see a car in the states that says 'Nunavut' I will have to take a picture.

Reason: spelling error
Being in Pittsburgh, I've seen plates from all of the west coast states besides Hawaii and the furthest Canadian plate I've ever seen is Alberta. Ontario plates also aren't that uncommon in Western Pennsylvania and I occasionally see a Quebec plate. The most common ones I see around here though are Ohio, New York, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, Florida, Illinois, California, and Texas.
I lived in Va Beach for 15 years and saw every state's plate numerous times (because of the military moving around). It seems a bit funny too that MS and NH plates look very similar. Who stole whose plate?

Some of the indian reservations issue their own plates, those are probably the rarest ones in the US. I never saw one until I moved to Minnesota. There is often a car parked on my block with Red Lake Nation plates, the number on the plate is only 4 digits.
