Honestly looks like 400 Bellemeade will top out sometime next week.
not just yet, the final four story steel beams have not gone up yet, will be maybe two months before an official top out, funny enough the current steel beams are at 6 stories but are already taller than bellemeades highest point.

At the rate they are going it may be less. Its taking less than a month to build up 6 stories.
Because of the sloped roof, the building will actually have "10 floors" so instead of 3 more floors of steel there will be 4. Also based on the rendering the top floors is taller than the rest. The combination of the taller top floor and the sloped roof is equivalent to two floors in this building. Even still, the height is equivalent to a typical 11 or 12 story office tower. Its going to be a tall "9 story" building
Yes 400 Bellemeade is now taller than Carroll at Bellemeade. Interestingly 4 floors of 400 Bellemeade are the same height of 5 floors of Carroll at Bellemeade. If Carroll at Bellemeade matched the height of 400 Bellemeade it would be a 12 or 13 story apartment/hotel complex.
Construction workers have quite a job. I'm afraid of heights so they are very brave lol. I had to walk very slowly to the edge of the deck just to take the photos lol.
The artist definitely got the scale right in the rendering with the drawings of the people in relationship to the tower.
Pretty awesome that a 20 story tower will be going up in the next lot. And some midrises.
Edit: the highest point of bellemeade is the Hyatt place glass top(7 stories tall) as you can see in that first photo 400 bellemeade is significantly taller.
Equivalent to an 8 story residential building or so.
When I drive downtown, Nothing feels like “Greensboro” anymore, the old southern charm feeling has dissapeared from the downtown area entirely aswell as the surrounding neighborghoods, now its all people, tons of construction and demolition of old buildings.
And that’s only going to increase as other projects are announced, which there is a decent amount that we don’t know of.
There are so many projects that will be going up in the ball park area alone that it is actually crazy when you think about it, that downtown will change drastically more in just two-3 years than it has in 30 years

Glad to see Greensboro growing finally but yeah there alot of old buildings being saved. Like the Jefferson standard, Southeastern building, kress, and 127 Greene Street
to name a few. But so i dont think that worry is warranted yet but should be watched

this is very true, preservation is still a priority, there is some stunning architecture on elm, I also like that many older buildings have been converted into cool little mixed use developments or luxurious apartments.
But the number of new massive structures far outweigh the renovations at the moment, but such is the price for going forward in this day and age; however they’re still doing an excellent job on preservation.
Anyone heard an update on the mixed use project near the Union Square campus?
I have been curious about this too. I even wrote them an email asking about it. No response. From what I've gathered, they were hoping the sale of the land would happen in May or June, start pre-sales around September, construction in the fall. As of today, the land is still owned by the Redevelopment Commission of Greensboro.
