Roy Carroll to reveal his planned development around the city deck the city is building near the ballpark May 1st. Based on city documents its expected to be some sort of mixed-use tower.
City documents reveal a future mixed-use hotel/office tower will connect with the deck. However there is more to the project than just the hotel/office tower. There will likely be residential and maybe the convention center Carroll talked about. Retail will line Eugene Street. Boy I would love to see one of the small layout urban Target stores a part of it like the one in downtown Chapel Hill.

"Biggest downtown Greensboro development project ever." That's pretty strong language! Can't wait for the announcement.

Cleary bigger than his Carroll at Bellemeade development which is already large.
Definitely can't wait to see Carroll's updated plans. There is going to be a lot of synergy around that ballpark . Project Slugger, Carroll at Bellemeade/Hyatt Place, The Greenway at Stadium Park Apartments, The Greenway at Fisher Park Apartments, several restaurants and breweries and Deep Roots Grocery store. And now Carroll's mega project. Development is really taking off around the ballpark. And the thing is, there are several more lots around the stadium ripe for development.
....also they have raised the "where we met" lighted sculpture over the LeBauer Park lawn. Safe to say we won't be getting any more frozen precipitation that could damage it.
Regarding the Bellemeade South development, I agree that we will have to wait to see what is announced, and then built. When Project 561 was announced, it was dependent on a large corporate tenant along with several smaller lease commitments. Obviously, this never happened. “The plans we will reveal”, and “Biggest downtown GSO development ever” sound to me that they are ready to move forward. The Carroll Bellemeade Apartments/Hyatt Place, while not completely finished, will be completed as originally designed. Hopefully, the hotel/office tower will be at least 12 to 15 stories. If so, this will establish a significant tower west of the Elm Street district. I agree that the mid rise development around the ballpark is impressive.
People are moving in the the south building at Carroll at Bellemeade. The west building facing the ballpark is looking more and more complete.
I think a tower at least 12 to 15 stories along with midrise construction along Eugene Street to the other end of Carroll's development site, is going to change the face of that entire area.
Apartment pool and clubhouse will be in the center portion on the top with a great view of the baseball field.
The hotel pool is above the parking entrance and Hyatt Place sign overlooking the ballpark.
Hanging Rock Mountain seen from the Bellemeade parking deck. You can actually see both Hanging Rock Mountain and Pilot mountain from the ground on I-840 in west Greensboro.

And it only took 4 years!
