I'm a exicted about the project too. I just hope they have the stores that will be there ,opened during times people are actually out and about..thats on of the issues I have harped on.. We need alot more retail downtown but they also need to have hours of operation that includes evening and Sunday hours...

A nice walkable, mixed use area like that is exactly what we need.
Yes these are very nice..also a twin tower development by the Ryan Companies.

Greensboro's project will be more compact then this but it demonstrates the importance of pedestrian friendly development by the Ryan's company. Their work is impressive and I can't wait to see the designs. The tentative plan is two 10 story office towers surrounded by 400 4 to 5 story apartments as well as retail and entertainment options. It will be interesting to see how this unfolds. Will it remain as two 10-story towers? Will the number of floors in the towers grow in height a little? Or will it change to one 20-story tower? It really depends on how much other amenities the Ryan Companies adds to this project and that's likely to happen as time goes on. If more amenities are added its conceivably possible the plan could change to one 20-story tower. Despite the fact that the Westin is going up across the Street the Ryan Companies still could consider even adding a hotel in this project particularly if they decides to purchase the additional 3 acres next to the News and Record property which is also across from the depot. Hughes Street divides the two properties and they could put meeting/convention space on the 3 acres if they wanted to. In my opinion that is the best place in downtown Greensboro to put a convention center because its right across the street from the city's transportation hub and Amtrak Station.

Downtown Minneapolis

Here are the two properties. The outlined red is the land the Ryan Companies will aquire for the proposed development. The outlined yellow is land the Ryan Companies have stated they'd like to purchase for additional development. Currently its vacant with a parking lot and an old abandoned warehouse that's falling apart

The developer has been showing concept sketches to potential tenants but there are no official renderings.

When did a 10 story building become a "tower"? A tower is usually defined as a building at least 20 stories in height.

You mean skyscraper. A 10-story building is considered a tower.

Office Tower Definition

Law Insider
https://www.lawinsider.com › dictionary › office-tower
"Office Tower means that part of the Building composed of the 16 office floors immediately above the parking level and the 2 floors of the mechanical plant."

A 10 story office building is not a tower. It is an office building.

This is a stupid conversation but youre completely misreading the definition here.

This is simply saying that the "tower" of a hypothetical building with 16 floors of office space, a parking level, and two floors of mechanical plant comprises only of the office floors.

The example above only contains 19 stories anyway.

Here's the full context.

Yes Google "10-story office tower" and see how many results you get.

Lidl is committed to downtown Greensboro grocery store. Once open, downtown Greensboro will have two grocery stores. Deep Roots which is like a mini Whole Foods is on the north end of downtown. Construction on 150 apartments by the Lidl site could begin in September as the developer closes on the site for apartments and retail. The Lidl site directly borders the southern leg of the downtown greenway. This will become the first urban Lidl in the state.
