Golden Chick on Pleasantburg is closed. That doesn't surprise me much.. I always thought that was a bad location for several reasons.. One of the main ones being.. Too close to the existing location on Pelham.
Not sure exactly when they closed, but within the past 2 weeks.
Open for only ~19 months. Not sure what to think about that.

I ate there once. First and last time. Think I will stick to Chick Fil A instead.
The Golden Chick in Greenwood closed a while back. I guess Pelham is the last remaining one in the Upstate.
There was one in Greenwood? Hell, that had to be open even less time than the Pleasantburg one.

I like them.. In moderation.. Certainly not a go-to place.. But the yeast rolls are amazing. I like the catfish.. The chicken strips.. They're OK. Not the greatest, not the worst.
Service time was always pretty bad at Pleasantburg. But food was fresh cooked, so.. hard to complain about that time when you're getting it fresh and hot.
I think corporate opened alot of them, and then sold to a franchisee who is now.. in trouble.
The Pelham location.. I've never really seen it busy, but I go at oddball times.
They would have done better opening the Pleasantburg store either on Woodruff or the other end of Pelham.

I will disagree about the South Pleasantburg Drive location being too close to the remaining location at Pelham Commons, 211 Pelham Road, Greenville, South Carolina 29615-2501. They are separate trade areas.
I am unable to comment about service and quality as I have not dined at the location. I will agree its location worked against it. Many people travel south on South Pleasantburg Drive.

I fear the Pelham Commons location may have a limited future ahead also. It is a good quick service restaurant option. The location may not be doing enough business.
The only draw for me to Pelham Commons is Publix #874, 215 Pelham Road, Greenville, South Carolina 29615-2546.

Especially when you can just pick up strips, wings etc at the Publix Commons location deli directly behind GC. They have a good deli at that location.
I have eaten at the Golden Chick in Greenwood and also on Pelham. The chicken and sides were ok but definitely not anything memorable, and was too expensive to be so mediocre. I probably won't be back.
