Why cut back? I couldn't find a story on this.

Also, what's up with the 50% restrictions? I'm guessing this applies to indoor capacities. Are people still masking indoors?

The Delta Variant virus is tossing a wrench into the works elsewhere, from Israel to LA California. Infecting some fully vaccinated adults is going to likely bring new scrutiny to policies we thought were finally easing.

Sheesh

Hope not. I did see a headline saying Israel was not going to scale back their opening due to Delta variant because very few are being hospitalized. If you're vaccinated and get it, most likely will be asymptomatic.

They showed 308 new Covid infections and 1 death yesterday at the Worldometers site. That's not a lot of activity. Spread will chiefly be seen within unvaccinated population. By now they've had their chance in Israel and US to be vaccinated.

I haven’t read details. Burned out. But I cringe a bit just hearing about it superficially because of how skittish policy has been up to now. Can imagine leadership getting spooked and freezing up again. And since considerable amount of my interest is tied to military retirement venues I know they’ll be last to re-open. Oh well, happy and busy in the San Juan Islands. But when the rains and cold hit I’ll be gritting teeth again and watching youtubes

We still an indoor mask mandate.

Restaurants are restricted to 50% capacity - leading to a lot of frustration by visitors and residents as you need a reservation for practically anything.

We are essentially the last state with restrictions with no end date in sight

One of my friends has been the manager of a popular beachfront restaurant in Maui for years. Yesterday, he quit in frustration and accepted a new job away from the tourist hordes.

The restaurant often still had 100 people in line as closing time approached. When he explained to them they weren't going to be seated in time, he was often subjected to angry verbal abuse.

Westside Maui restaurants who take reservations are now booked through the summer season leaving walk-in places overwhelmed.

I drove down Kuhio Ave towards Diamond Head last night around 8:30PM or so. The line of folks
trying to get into Marukame's udon joint stretched around the corner and up Nohonani St. towards
the Ala Wai. Perhaps a good 30-40 yards or more.

If you show up at Duke's at 3:30pm, you might get lucky to be put on a list for a seat at the bar at 6:30pm
