I think SS is fine in other folks' homes, but there's something about the texture that gives me chills. I just can't touch SS for some reason. Strange, I know, but that's me. I went with black. It's striking. I have to dust them rather often, but they do look good, IMO.
Just an FYI, stainless is losing value in the market. In another 10 years, it will most likely be unpopular in middle class homes. Mostly for the reason many of you brought up. Its impossible to keep clean. They look beautiful on the showroom floor, but are as high maintenance as a black car, as far as keeping it looking good. That will be its downfall in the end.
Now it'll always look nice in high end homes that can afford a household staff.
Wow, I am very surprised to see I am not alone in my bisque preference. I wouldn't have ss...it's too industrial looking for me. The black is too dark for me. I like white, depending on the cabinets. I think the bisque goes with everything.
I don't find stainless steel impossible to keep clean - just not true. It is not more difficult to keep clean than black and I have had both. It really isn't necessary to malign the choice of others so that you can justify your preference.
I like black appliances. If I ever mover to a house with SS appliances, i would thrown them right out anb buy black ones. I dont care what re sale is or the trend. I hate SS applainces.
