I've found third party recruiters to be mostly obsolete. At least for FTE roles. They don't do much other than apply people for a role the candidate could have just applied themselves. I think they'd be out of business if it wasn't for the popularity of contract roles.

He's not bad, just odd.

At least when you would see people at work socializing and not working you knew that they were socializing and not working. Now you don't really know what people are doing.

Does he think everyone should just remain at their little cubicle all day, be a corporate drone, no small talk with your office mates allowed?!

I guess so lol. He's pretty quiet. He needs to realize some people are more extroverted than others.

Oh gosh, he wouldn't like me then. I usually get people talking about off work topics, that way when it's time to talk business it's like you've developed a 'friendship' with them so to speak and I find it makes it easier and more enjoyable working with them.

Exactly. The two years I worked in offices (software technical writing) it was imperative to have a good working relationship with the engineers. One woman who was a contract writer got fired because she was so mad at men and the engineers were 51 men, 3 women.

FWIW despite raising rates yesterday, the market believes that the Fed will start cutting by the end of the year. Usually this means the economy is going south. Usually. Unemployment is still very very low so it's tough to believe things will change that quickly but maybe something will happen between now and the end of the year to really get things going.

We'll see how long people hold out on WFH if things get bad.

Well I've been WFH my whole career so if that were to change at this stage of the game, I'd probably have to figure out my own business to start or something b/c there's no way I'd last having to commute in to an office every day!

I don't understand that poster's views on WFH. I understand why people will personally favor or disfavor WFH but why would any decent person wish ill will on those who prefer to WFH?

His WFH obsession is odd to say the least. Belongs on the work or economics forum
