I knew there had to be more behind the Ernst Tubb sale. This is going to be a mess.

Ernest Tubb Record Shop subject of lawsuit prior to sale announcement - Nashville Business Journal (bizjournals.com)

LAWSUIT: extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/viewer.html?pdfurl=https%3A%2F%2Fmedia.bizj.us%2Fv iew%2Fimg%2F12221173%2F2021-08-06-petition-1.pdf&clen=309908

Ernest Tubb Record Shop subject of lawsuit prior to sale announcement

The announcement of Ernest Tubb Record Shop’s impending sale was preceded by a legal dispute, in which a conservator for the store’s former owner alleged a “civil conspiracy.”

Phillip McCormick — who is conservator for his brother, former longtime Ernest Tubb Record Shop owner David McCormick — filed a lawsuit in August alleging a months-long string of wrongdoing from the shop’s current owners, JesseLee Jones and Emily Ann Cousins, according to court filings.

Timeline and details of the lawsuit

David McCormick had been longtime friends with Jones and Cousins and lived in their guesthouse for much of 2020, according to court filings. The relocation was a result of David McCormick’s allegedly declining mental health, the Aug. 6 lawsuit says.

"David McCormick’s mental and psychological condition unfortunately deteriorated with the passing years. In large part, this was the result of his bipolar disorder," the filing states.

Shortly after moving onto the married couple’s property, McCormick granted Jones power of attorney, a measure that gave Jones the ability to act for McCormick in certain financial or legal matters, according to court filings. Also that day, according to case filings, McCormick drafted his will, naming Jones and Cousins as the primary beneficiaries of his estate, including the record shop.

The lawsuit alleges that Jones and Cousins exploited McCormick’s “psychological impairment” and the parties’ personal relationship to gain control of the shop for what the lawsuit alleges was below market value.

Rethink Community has purchased 21 acres along Dickerson Pike for a planned mixed use community half a mile from the Oracle site. I know TDOT has plans in this area to extend Cleveland Street under I-24, but that's not going to be enough imo. This area will be very congested.

This is cool news--

"Nashville continues to assert itself as one of the world's preeminent vinyl record cities.

Czech Republic-based GZ Media recently announced it's opening a manufacturing and distribution center on Brick Church Drive called Nashville Record Pressing.
Why it matters: The $13 million investment will bring 225 jobs, including executives at the NRP headquarters.

CEO Drake Coker says the investment is in direct response to cries from record labels for the music industry to increase its vinyl record production capacity."

Oh, by the way, Nashville is probably getting a retractable roofed stadium.

And a four-building development (Paseo) in the South Gulch.
