I live in the Westchester building. Each building has a certain amount of units set for preference and AMI. First the go in order by preference then apply the AMI. Newbold is 10 floors and Westchester is 11, however Newbold has more units. Good luck to everyone.
Hello Marie719,
I'm new here! Congrats on your new apartment. A bit of back story on me I went for interview back in January, finally provided documents back in July and they requested more the first week of August. So I feel really good about getting in to 2044 or Newbold. I also have the CB & Municipal preference. I wanted to know what was the lease process like? (How much was the deposit? Essentially how much money should I put aside?) I'm super excited because this will be my first apartment Thanks in advance!
i did a viewing today, the building is alright. reminds me of a minimal hotel. The studio and 1 bedroom are smaller than what i'm used to, OK for a single person, cramped for a couple and over all not very inviting for guest when it comes to floor space. the hook up for Comcast and Verizon is set up in the closet walls. bathroom has average tub and pretty wide medicine cabinet/mirror. the lights are installed against the walls. The AC/Heat are in a radiator type unit under the window. the stove is electric. building heat is gas. building access is through a key fob, with a camera feature on the buzzer.
the bike room has direct access from the lobby and separate doorway to the streets. the laundry room has 2 access points as well, lobby and back yard which is nice place to wait while your load is running. managing garbage is pretty easy. each floor has a room that hold paper, plastic/metal, general large items, and a chute for regular trash. The super is nice and lives in the Newbold building.
Even though i got to see the 1 bedroom i'm going to living in the studio since Wavecrest is still fulfilling CB preference quotas, since some CB have dropped out during my viewing.
This description is amazing I have both the CB & municipal preference and I am patiently waiting to see the apartment and sign the lease. Do you know how much money you'll have to put down? Is the rent times two or another amount?
Any info would be great. Your highlights already provide a visual of what I can expect!

Thanks!
they're are going to ask for first and security. so whatever your rent is, doubled will be needed.

THANK YOU! So do you know what happens when you qualify for 2 different brackets?
At first, I qualified for the 60% AMI then due to my doing a few gig apps like Shipt and Instacart I was told I may qualify for the higher brackets since my income increased maybe 100%. They needed a lot of documents to determine which. But my resident coordinator is on vaca so I'll have to wait to ask where exactly I would fall.....but I guess I'll plan for the 60% AMI now.
Just want to know if you or anyone else had any experience with that?

sadly many people lose their spot if they fall out of their original income bracket. if youre no longer in the 60% bracket youll pay more rent if you make enough to be in 100% bracket, that's if those apartments havent been assigned yet.

Hmmm okay thank you. I guess that makes sense. I feel for those people who are suffering during this time. This all was so unpredictable.
Did they ever discuss parking lots behind the Westchester building or next to the Newbold building?

the parking lot wasn't brought up to me, from what I assume the lot next door is its own business. The space between the 2 buildings is a terrace that closes at 9pm

Oh okay well at least there's some street parking I guess. Your lucky you got to see the space at least. Since my resident coordinator is on vaca I reached out to the general email for an update and they told me to reach out to the leasing agent Tiara for on my status for approval which I did yesterday but haven't heard anything.
Have you ever spoken to her? That's the first time I'm being pushed in her direction.
