its in the lease signing package sent by Susan that you see how much the previous tenant paid. The exact same page where your rent is written....

Stuyvesant Town is from 14th - 20th St, Ave C to 1st Ave. Peter Cooper starts across the street, 20th St to 23rd St, Ave C to 1st Ave.

Yaya, did you get to visit StuyTown yet and the area? It will make more sense when you get there and walk around a bit. There's also a ferry stop by you which is nice to have.

No- I didn’t visit it yet, I am planing on stoping by Thursday morning as I won’t have to be at work early and walk around Stuytown.

When it comes to visiting my unit, I called the welcome center yesterday. They told me that I should talk to Susan for that, so she can arrange. I didn’t want to contact Susan. She works tirelessly to match tenant with their apt and I don’t feel to bother her. She is really dedicated to us. The day she sent me my lease it was way past her working hours. That’s how dedicated she is… so I will wait and I am sure that the location and the apt will be nice.

Thanks everyone I found it. So it appears I am the first rent stabilized tenant and the prior rent is below my rent, and pretty low. This adds credence to the fact they are waiting to match the apartment to the income. I speculate that the prior tenant was there for quite some time; perhaps an elderly person…kinda sad but I’m speculating.

They also apparently put $24k into renovations- but don’t go into specifics- this allowed the to add a bit to my rent above what was initially the allowed amount.

So interesting and complex a process!

I feel the same way. Susan answered my emails at 730am so I don't want to bother her any longer. I am going to walk around next week just to see the exact location. I went last week before I got my email with the exact address. I am getting so giddy getting emails from ST/PCV to setup my moving date and to pick up the keys.

I agree. That's why there is so much movement with what appear to be large swings between the numbers (at least in the 2 bedroom group) - log #'s in the 3XXX range, then 6xxx followed by 4xxx, etc. The way I understand it (and again, I could be way off) is that the log numbers are how you get asked for information and invited to apply, moving in order up the chain. Then once you're approved you move into a pool to wait for an available apartment that fits your budget range - 35% of the ami. By law, they can only increase the rent a certain amount from the last tenant, so they try to match the apartment to the income.

I would assume (but again - this is all assumption) that if an apartment became available that would conceivably fit 2 or more applications, they would offer it to someone with a lower original log number first.

But really, who knows? We are all trying to find facts from a set of random guesses. It could just as easily be a fishbowl or dartboard .

That's only after you've made it through the approval process. The time frame for approval varies greatly by which specialist you're assigned to and their caseload. It can be 2 weeks or many months to get past that step. Once you get through the final approval you finally get to the matching process and then it may vary somewhat by budget range. But overall that's not what is causing the the higher log numbers to be matched way before the lower log numbers, it's the approval timeline.

ahaha I am mainly still in the forum as I was waiting for TPNYC to get her offer and now I am waiting for Chloe.

I hear ya . We've been in a holding pattern since June, basically waiting to hear. I think we're all just trying to ascertain the process to help pass the time. I just have to believe they are doing their best and the last 4 months have taught me patience. It's often hard as it's a life changing decision, but it gets easier (at least for me) the longer time goes by. It's out of our hands, and while there is some train of thought that constant contact with them moves things along, I just can't bring myself to badger people. I work in customer service so part of it comes from that

Hope for the best, support one another, t the p (trust the process) and leave it in the hands of fate.
