Another nice thing about the Buy Nothing group is that it's very local: just Stuy Town, PCV, and Gramercy. So it's really easy to pick things up if you're the winner of an item. Plus you get to meet your neighbors, and the group had a "gifting" table at the Stuy Town flea market last weekend.

And I am sure to have so many things I need to get rid of if we move Mac! We have moved 4 times in the past 6 years and each time I get a bunch of furniture and apartment specific items for each new place, dragging all the stuff I got for the last place with me and saying 'Oh, it'll fit somewhere '.

Yes. I spoke to Syed today.
For background information.. my log number is 26XX with an income almost at the maximum limit on the 1bed waitlist.
I was told my application will not be reached till “end of the year”.
I mentioned applicants with higher log numbers were offered 1beds.
Syed then mentioned himself and Ms. Pryce are senior specialists with longer lists and applicants on their lists with log numbers in the 800-1000s are still being worked on.
Additional specialist were hired to help with the workload so the lists of the junior specialists’ started at higher log numbers ..
There have been 7-8 1beds that became available recently, however given to junior specialists mostly to work on, hence applicants with higher log numbers were offered 1beds most recently.
He didn’t have any other updates for me.. and said “call back in December for another update”.
And the lottery will likely end in February.
Seems unfair. But that’s why it’s a lottery I guess. You may get lucky, you may not.

I thought the person who posted that they received a one bedroom offer with log 34xx said the offer came from Ms. Pryce. I have a very high log number (8xxx) and whoever I spoke with last week said there is still a chance I could receive an offer. They may have just been being nice

That does not seem fair but I believe its being honest. What is the name of the agency that oversees the lottery? Maybe they should be asked to intervene.

Do we know the names of the various specialists?

I agree it doesn't seem fair. Stuy Town is not going in log order. Period.

Hey all,

Still waiting for a 2 bedroom over here with a very high log number of 8xxx. My approval process was fairly fast and I was officially approved in mid August.

I then was connected to Susan who said that it's a good thing that I "landed on her desk" and once a unit that matches our salary (husband and I) become available I will be given an offer.

I guess I'd like to get an understanding of... how long has anyone else been on Susan's desk before they received an offer? For me it's now been 1 month.

Other helpful groups: Stuytown moms and Stuytown pups and Stuytown cats if you have a dog or a cat!
Stuytown is awesome!! Can't wait to get to know all of you new neighbors!

Thank you guys!

Hi Claire, actually figured this out today because I was curious about the same thing. For us, we've been 'on the desk' waiting for an offer on a 2 bedroom since approval on Aug 16, so
42 days. Our log # is / was 70XX. The dates I've been able to discern from posts from final acceptance email to offer is 23 days (6/22 -7/15), 40 days appr (late July - late August), 34 days (6/28 - 8/1), and 45 days (8/5 - 9/19).

There is some dispute of what original log numbers mean when you get approved. It seems to be waiting for an apartment that fits your 35% ami budget.

In any case, welcome to the club and good luck! This is a fantastic supportive group.
