Is it possible to go in and get a bigger apartment after a year if my voucher amount goes up?
The only way to get a bigger apartment is to either waitlist while you live at your current address and wait. Meantime you can apply to more lotteries and hope for a 3 bedroom.
Or you can take the 2 bedroom and wait for an internal transfer, but you could be waiting years since you'll be waiting for somebody to move out the building since everyone is just moving in an probably won't be leaving for some years since the rent is stabilized. During the time you can keep applying to lotteries and see what happens but you'll have to see if eagle lets people break the lease.

All apartments are going to be filled by time your voucher goes up so you'll literally be hoping for someone to move out and hoping you're at the top of the internal transfer list when a 3 bedroom goes vacant because there can be someone above you on the waitlist that gets it. That's what happened at my current place. The waitlist for a 2 bedroom is long, my management office said they don't expect me to actually get an apartment for another 5 -7 years since most people don't move out of the bigger sizes apartments and that's the range for internal transfers.

For tenants that moved into 227 West, since the amenities (gym, pools, co-working spaces, etc) aren't finished yet, I assume you won't be charged a monthly amenities fee until the amenities are built and ready to use? Also, has the building given a timeline on when they think these amenities will be ready?

Amenities are ready, opened 2 weeks ago (pools are still closed) but everything else looks good. You can opt in whenever you want, won't be charged if you don't want amenities.

Cool thanks for the info. I was there for a showing on Monday but the Reside agent only showed me the apartment unit and nowhere else in the building because she said the amenities weren't done yet. Strange..

Did you move into 227 West? How has it been so far/ how are the amenity spaces? Does it feel crowded or no? I just got my lease and have to decide if I'm going to sign!

Congrats! Friend lives in the building. The building isn't at max capacity yet so def doesn't feel crowded. Always at least a couple ppl in the gym. The amenities are very nice. Lots of space to work/study. Game room is smallish but cool.

I contacted Susan and she said there is limited availability left for 125/130%

Let's run some numbers here, assuming all 80%AMI has gone to CB, and 50% of the units go to CB:

Total: 224
Total CB: 112
Total 80%AMI: 78
80%AMI CB: 78
125/130%AMI CB: 34
Total Genpop: 112
80%AMI: 0
125/130%: 78

Assuming they are up to log # ~600, a lot of them are 125/130%AMI

5% goes to mobility
5% goes to visually impaired
5% goes to nyc employee

So 65% goes to preferences leaving 79 units to gen pop total.

Not sure about how many are left specifically for the AMI that’s not filled but 79 units were left for gen pop as a whole
