OK, anyone have any thoughts on other island visits, and the cost to get there and back? I saw an article on a short ferry ride to I believe, Laniai or one of the others. Is that trip worth it, and I believe at the time the cost was about $25.00.00. Are there any other cheap ferry or plane trips around Ohau or to any other islands?
If there is a ferry, it's from Maui to Lanai. The only other regular way to get to the other islands is to fly. I have found that Hawaiian is the most reliable, and the reliability is worth the premium. We spent 2 days in the airport to go to Maui on "GO! Airlines" only to find out they cancelled the 3rd plane. Ruined a trip to see friends on vacation.

GO!, which was operated by Phoenix based Mesa Airlines, ceased operations in April.
Personally I like Mokulele Airlines, based in Kailua-Kona, for their great prices.
This might be interesting. Have you even flown them?
No, but it's pretty easy to see how much money you can save on Molulele over Hawaiian's prices. Let's say I want to fly Kona to Kahului on this coming Friday, the 18th. Hawaiian's website shows the fare at $114. Mokulele shows a fare of $68.99 for the same flight. That's what I call a great price, like I said.

Of course you haven't flown them.
But you won't on the 18th either so it doesn't matter if the flight is $1,000,000 or $1

Of course it matters, to everyone, because without the competition from Makulele, that Kona to Kahului fare by Hawaiian might be $154, or $174, or who knows? Clearly Hawaiian is the 800 pound gorilla in the interisland market, but just as clearly it's a healthy thing for Mokulele Airlines, and Larry Ellison's Island Air to be creating competitive pressure to hold down the fares.

So.....
How many other things in Hawaiido you recommend that you haven't even tried?
Any data to support your assertion that Island Air or Mokulele (not Makulele by the way) is creating competitive pressure to hold down airfare? I'd love to see that for completely different products.
Hint, a 9 seat airplane does not.
