Seriously, what do you want because you can't have it all?

cut all taxes by 95%, default on the national debt, and make for only low spending by the lowered taxes.

I didn't see specific reasons cited for these layoffs, but can't help but wonder if the election outcome had been different...

Forward to Higher Unemployment! Over 700 Mass Layoffs Announced in Texas

"110 employees of Plains Cotton Cooperative Association in Littlefield and 600 employees of Navistar Truck Group in Garland will lose their jobs over the Christmas holiday season (01/05/2013 and 12/31/2012, respectively)."

The following article says 900 at Navistar, not 600 as noted above.

Navistar to close Garland plant where 900 are employed

"Truck maker Navistar International Corp. will close its manufacturing operation in Garland that employs roughly 900 workers, the company announced Tuesday.

The Dallas Morning News reported that the plant will close by the first half of next year. The Illinois-based company, previously known as International Harvester, makes commercial trucks, buses and other vehicles."

This is so typical. Whenever leftist don't like the message, they ask, "Do you have a real source?"

This is the result of effective brainwashing. They are not taught to think. There heads are void of brain power. They are noting but dupes of the left. Free thought is something unheard of in liberal circles. The Party's "talking points" are the only truth, and they haven't intelligence enough to dig beneath the surface to find out if what they are being told is true.
Exactly.

You do realize that, by definition, 50% of the people are Below Average in intelligence, and that is the 50% that voted for Obummer.

In four years we'll see what percentage of the Obamites will claim to have voted for him in the 2012 election; I suspect very few will admit to it.

Obama is either going to cut the deficit or he will not.

He can only cut the deficit if he includes some pretty large spending cuts. Raising taxes on a handful of people will not accomplish anything.

Obama will have to realize that some of his proposed spending is out the door, and he needs to come up with some programs he will have slashed.

He needs to do this right away. He had 4 years but failed to come up with anything, he doesn't have 4 more years to dilly and dally.

Over 10 million who voted for him in 2008 did not vote for him in 2012 -- since he had 10 million fewer votes. We know he picked up all those who turned 18 after 2008 and of course all those who have come here illegally since 2008, and some of the elderly who voted for him in 2008 are no longer with us -- but a good number did vote for him in 2008 but sat out this election.

This link points out a lot of companies laying off employees because of 0bamaCare.

Freedom Works has put together a list of companies that will be laying off employees as a result of President Barack Obama's health care law:

I posted both of those links myself, much earlier in this thread. I meant for the last ones I just posted. I didn't see specific reasons given for the layoffs at PCC and Navistar, although I can't help but wonder...

You're exactly right.

On the basis of its analysis, CBO concludes the
following:

Extending all expiring tax provisions other than the
cut in the payroll tax and indexing the AMT for inflation—
except for allowing the expiration of lower tax
rates on income above $250,000 for couples and
$200,000 for single taxpayers—would boost real GDP
by about 1¼ percent by the end of 2013. That effect is
nearly as large as the effect of making all of those
changes in law and extending the lower tax rates on
higher incomes as well (which CBO estimates to be a
little less than 1½ percent, as noted above)
, primarily
because the budgetary impact would be nearly as large

Quote:
Although reducing the fiscal tightening scheduled to
occur next year would boost output and employment in
the short run, doing so without imposing a comparable
amount of additional tightening in future years would
reduce the nation’s output and income in the longer run
relative to what would occur if the scheduled tightening
remained in place. If all of the policies considered in this
analysis were extended for a prolonged period beyond the
two years assumed here, federal debt held by the public—
which is currently more than 70 percent of GDP, its highest
mark since 1950—would continue to rise much faster
than GDP. Such a path for federal debt could not be sustained
indefinitely, so policy changes would be required
at some point.
