Let all the Bush tax cuts expire, they are evil, and the main cause for our federal deficits, according to you guys. In fact, raise taxes on everyone in the top 10% by 20%, then increase the corporate tax rate and the capital gains taxes by 20% too. Then sit back and watch the economy explode. Because we all know that government knows best how to spend all of our money. Obama's corny capitalism with green energy proved this is all true.

Where did this layoff bomb detonate? Are you sure it wasn't defused by a robot?

They didn't. The IRS has redefined full time to be 30 hours now for Obamacare.
So any part time worker who worked 30-39 hours will now only work 29 to stay part time.
The IRS will also look back 12 months to verify that status. That means as of 1/1/2013 part time ends at 29 hours and full time starts at 30 hours.
With full time comes mandated healthcare coverage or penalties per worker per quarter that doesn't have it.

Don't you keep up with the Obamacare changes ?
These businesses did.

Now workers will get more time to spend with their families. That's good..isn't it ?

You're going to end up with quite the short list there when the dust settles.

My son's hours got cut to 29 but his restaurant didn't inform the press. You won't know who cut hours and who didn't.

I must say it's kind of amusing to read the indignation, disbelief, shock and anger that's been expressed on these boards the last few days, as more and more companies announce lay-offs/hour reductions.

Didn't ANYONE on the left pay attention to the bill? I mean, we know those that voted on it didn't read it...but come on now. It's been over a year, and you've had plenty of warning (from the right mostly) about these 'unintended consequences'. Did you think it was just made-up fear mongering? Did you think companies will just absorb additional costs??

Truly...why are some sooooo surprised??
