I would add that realizing how incorrect these anti-gun proponents are also raises the question of how well versed they are in other agendas they are pursuing. Sloppiness and incompetence has a habit of repeating.
Frighteningly accurate. What's worse is that the majority of people arguing against firearms in this and other threads would rather remain ignorant and appear foolish than take the time to learn anything about those "evil guns."
I've been away from the hobby for close to a decade now, other than my monthly trip to the local range to put holes in paper with my handgun and my voluntary yearly refresher course on safety and use, and I'm still better informed than 80% of the anti-gun crowd.
Sorry about my shotgun statement, I was thinking about the ultimate shotguns displayed earlier on this thread. I do have to admit that I have not been a gun person for many years, thirty to be exact. I do not have a policy of banning any guns. When I was a kid the 12 Gage was the local gun of choice. I had a .22 , but never hunted anything but squirrels .
Just to let you guys know, that I was not a wimp, I chose trapping. Beaver, muskrat, fox, mink,. Skinned and stretched my own furs. At 14, I had a several mile long trap line, hard work so early in the AM. I caught a 60 lb beaver once, wrote a story about it in the Trappers Digest, all this at 14-15. Sears was still buying furs then, was a big deal going to the auction as kids.

There is more to the " other side" than you think. You would be wrong in discounting the intel. Of a huge part of the Country. I have noticed a "superior" attitude from some of the big gun supporters. That could come off as not being helpful to the cause. What will get both sides further along is education . Not every gun owner is a crazed survivalist living in a compound deep in the woods ether. There IS middle ground too, that's what many of us are looking for, understanding, and knowledge.
Based on the hysteria I have seen here from the anti-gun crowd and the Feinstein Bill I would say you are not in touch with the more vocal and legislative elements of your group.
The true problem underlying the criminal use of firearms at this country is a topic neither party wishes to touch. Much too sensitive and will cause us to take a hard look at the society we have become.

There isn't a middle ground when it comes to restricting peoples' rights. This is why I support the pro-gun people even though I never have and probably never will own a firearm:
First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Socialist. Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Trade Unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me--and there was no one left to speak for me.

You are showing what I was talking about, and you do not have any guns . Middle ground does not have to be" restricting Peoples Rights" any more than the innocent victims rights. When we have so many gun violence events daily, and now the CT. Massacre , something has to be done, it will not go away this time.

Having run a few trap lines myself at around the same age, I'll say now that slogging through snow at 3 am to check your traps is tougher than any deer hunt I've ever gone on
And for the record, Darstar, you've at least shown a willingness to learn about the subject and discuss it without resorting to the "scary gun" posts, so my comments about foolishness weren't directed at you.

Gun owners don't need to justify themselves to you, nor are they limited by your perspective.

Why stop at teachers, we should arm everyone at sporting events, shopping malls, restaurants, churches, movie theatres, no gun free zones period.
