I am more concerned about all the cops shooting dogs rather than the profiling. Profiling happens based on statistics of who is out there committing the crimes.

Why should they be allowed to do this and is this the intended purpose of a government Police force to begin with?

Private Police forces can be maintained with much more transparency and due process.

We currently have the highest incarceration rate (per capita and raw numbers) in the world.

What are you going to do about it?
It's really unfair.

A man has to provide for his family, and he wants to do so at a high level.

And yet, a black man can't get ahead easily, so many obstacles in his way...simple things like getting loans for start ups, not being a part of the old boy network, etc etc..those weren't as viable options for us as they were for the generic white man.

So, he turned to what black men around him were doing. Yes it's risky, but advancing in a society that is purposefully set against you is an impossibility...so what can he do? The alternative is to waste away chipping at a glass ceiling that just won't crack.

And the cycle continues.

It's the trap that black people talk about so much.

But the glass ceiling broke...

As it was bound to do...

And all of a sudden we're coming up...

And they don't know what to do...

lol

Don't worry white people...I'm not mad at you. Jesus said turn the other cheek...

We won't round you up and ship you off in boats to wherever and force you to actually put in a hard days work in...for those that don't, I mean...

We have 25% of the world's prison population. 25%. Do you know how big the world is Badland wonder? We have the highest prison population per capita and still have some of the most violent streets in the world. Somethings not working Badland wonder.

When you give someone a criminal record and its unjustified it could ruin someone's life. I suggest you grow up or wise up and educate yourself before you jump into a debate.

You care more about dogs than a race of men being profiled, harassed, and set up.

Don't really know what to say.

This is a good article on the prison for profit industry and why it is so immoral. Minorities are definitely not the only group currently being abused by our justice system, the poor and disadvantaged are just as vulnerable and often profiled as well in attempt to meet quotas and raise revenues.

LOS ANGELES, December 4, 2013 — Today, in the U.S., there are privately owned for-profit prisons that contractually require states to maintain a certain number of prisoners. If prison populations fall below the agreed upon quota, there are fines the states have to pay to these prison corporations.

There is something terribly wrong with America.

One company was so desperate to keep their prison populations high that it was willing to bribe two Pennsylvania judges to do so. Mark Ciavarella Jr. and Michael Conahan were sentencing children without proper representation to harsh penalties for petty crimes while receiving kick-backs from the prison corporation for their efforts.
In 2011, Mark Ciavarella Jr. was sentenced to 28 years and made to pay a $1.2 million restitution after it was found out that he accepted more than $2 million in bribes from Robert Powell and Robert Mericle who built and owned, respectively, the PA Child Care and Western PA Child Care detention centers. Michael Conahan, received 17 and a half years for charges stemming from the bribes.

A little more from the article...

The true tragedy is the cost to the prisoners. These are actual human beings, most often not white, who are being preyed on by people in the more affluent sectors of American society. Lives are ruined every day so that stockholders can enjoy a better return on their investment.

The goal of any civilized society, albeit lofty, should be to have a population free of crime and thus, empty prisons. The prison system is supposed to be set up not only to punish people who break the law, but also ultimately to rehabilitate these same people and return them to society as productive citizens.

The problem, however, is that there is no money in freeing prisoners for these corporations. They do not get any more funding for successfully rehabilitating and releasing prisoners.

Through lobbyists, CCA and other private prison corporations, according to InthePublicInterest.org, have contributed to a number of laws aimed at arresting more people and keeping them incarcerated for longer periods of time, such as mandatory minimum sentencing, drug offenses and immigration violations.

Three young men were arrested for absolutely no reason while waiting on the school bus. When is enough enough??

The young men say they tried to explain to him they were waiting for a school bus. The officer arrested three of the players. ”We didn’t do nothing,” said Raliek Redd. “We was just trying to go to our scrimmage.”

“You just downtown, minding your own business, and next thing you know, anything can happen,” said Daequon Carelock. The police report says the students were obstructing “pedestrian traffic while standing on a public sidewalk…preventing free passage of citizens walking by and attempting to enter and exit a store…Your complainant gave several lawful clear and concise orders for the group to disperse and leave the area without complaince.”

In this situation they arrested a Superior Court judge for absolutely no reason.

I guess we all look alike eh?

Black judge says UCLA cops used excessive force in seat-belt stop - latimes.com

A prominent African American judge has filed a complaint against two UCLA police officers, accusing them of using excessive force when they pulled him over for not wearing a seat belt.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David S. Cunningham III, a former Los Angeles Police Commission president, said the officers shoved him against his car, handcuffed him, locked him in the back of their police cruiser and told him he was being detained for resisting arrest.
Cunningham's complaint does not attribute the incident to his race, but his attorney said race was clearly a factor in the officers' behavior.

What are you going to do about it?
There simply isn't any question about that one of the reasons we decided to turn many of our nation's police forces into paramilitary operations was an irrational fear of black men. You can see evidence of this sad record repeated throughout this nation's history. Right now some people are spreading the fear that young black men are engaging in an epidemic of violence. They are calling it the knockout game. Just like earlier reports of black teens wilding or black teens becoming super predators, it has no basis on statistical reality and everything to do with fear and hatred of black men.

Sadly, these kinds of false fear of black men stories resonate with a huge number of Americans and this fear and hatred is then used to crack down on crime. And to a huge percentage of Americans cracking down on crime means harassing and monitoring and controlling the movements and activities of black men.

This naturally leads to black men at all levels of law enforcement being much more likely to be stopped, which in turn produces more black men found breaking the law.

If you have a two sets of population with 10,000 each, and even if the criminal behavior of both sets of populations were equal, if systematically one of those population groups were stopped, harassed, questioned, detained, suspected, arrested, at a much higher clip than the other population, guess what is going to happen, you are going to find a lot more criminals in that group even though both groups are breaking the law at similar rates.

But of course, the skewed crime stats are then used to justify the skewed enforcement of the law on this one group that you know is more criminal. It is a vicious cycle that destroys the lives of many.

And it continues, here is one experience that nearly all black American men share during your teen years and young adulthood being stopped or harassed or questioned by the police over and over again because people and the police are afraid of you and see you as a threat.

I have had so many unpleasant and unnecessary run ins with law enforcement to last me many lifetimes.

I'm going to assume that people are incarcerated for a reason, hope they stay there, and continue to be prepared to defend myself and my family from people like them.
