Again, according to medical science, the best treatment for GID includes sex reassignment theory (the most critical component of the treatment). See Gijs and Brawaeys "Surgical Treatment of Gender Dysphoria in Adults and Adolescents: Recent Developments, Effectiveness, and Challenges" Annual Review of Sex Research 18, pp 178-224. Gijs and Brawaeys found that the level of satisfaction for people who had sex reassignment surgery was very high.

Your story isn't lining up. This leads me to believe it's a psychological disorder, which, by the way, I am totally compassionate of. I really feel for those parents and that confused little boy; however, treatment lies in modern psychology, not genital mutilation.
You are not a medical specialist. What makes you think you know what's best for this child? Would you stake a child's life on your non-medical uninformed opinion?

At least the parents are telling him he needs to tell perspective boyfriends that he has a penis and is really a boy. I'll give them that at least.

I'm sorry he can't get his wish to be a girl. It sounds like he would be happier if he was, and I'm all for people being happy.

But I've often wished I could fly like a bird, by flapping my arms, or even without flapping - just some kind of levitation. I will never be a bird, or a levitator (is that a word?), even if I make and sew on giant eagle wings. I will be a man with weird things on his arms. And this boy will only be a boy with mutilated genitals and abnormal hormones in his veins. I'm sorry that both desires are unachievable.
Easily the worst perspective on this topic. But not surprising.

What a sweet young lady we have here. She identifies as a girl, yet is physically a boy. She's fortunate to have parents who are understanding and supportive. All kids deserve as much and more. This society is becoming more accepting, and I hope that she finds someone who is supportive, and lives a happy life as a woman. Kudos to the support she's receiving.

You are 100 prcent right. There is a reason they call it gender identity disorder. Homosexuality should be called same sex attraction disorder as well.

The parents failed to provide adequate guidance and are responsible for this disaster.

Neither are you. We all know however that XY = boy. XX = girl.

He's a boy in all ways. And he has a mixed-up brain.

The confusion of posters in this thread, comes from people deciding that the mixed-up brain is right, and all the clear and immutable physical evidence is wrong.

I feel sorry for the boy. He'll have conflicts for as long as his brain and his body disagree. And that's nobody's fault, certainly not his... except maybe his parents', who are as confused as the posters in this thread, and keep insisting the mixed-up brain is right while the clear and unchangeable (with present-day technology) physical evidence is wrong.

The confusion represents a triumph of the mindset that says if you tell a big enough lie, often enough, it somehow becomes the truth. Those people have always been wrong about that, and are nothing but liars and wishful thinkers. Including the latest he's-a-girl bunch.

He's a boy with a mixed-up brain. Whose recovery is being carefully blocked by confused, lie-becomes-truth parents.

Every single time one of you guys just dismiss the opinion of scientists, I always hear Jimmy Stewart from Anatomy of a Murder in my head, "Aw shucks, I'm just a country lawyer..."

I'll help you out here using a simple mathematical equation, one that no amount of what passes as your "reasoning" can possibly reverse.

Opinion of legitimate science > opinion of right wingers with a political ax to grind.

Basic math.

Oh, so now it's all just "math"?

Here's another truism, then.

Conservatives who are right > confused liberals who lie to themselves.

Takes care of that.
